Bolahood BeatriceBOLAHOOD, Beatrice  - December 6th, 1930 - November 24th, 2017

Passed away at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Friday, November 24th, 2017 at the age of 86.

She is predeceased by her husband, Joseph Bolahood.

She leaves her son; Wayne Bolahood and his wife Cathy; her daughter Darlene Bolahood and her partner Charles Sylge; her daughter Mary Jo Morrison and her husband Robert; her son Joseph Bolahood II and his wife Carolyn.

Lovingly remembered by her 15 grandchildren Jessica (Steve), Leila (Ryan), Paige and Barry Bolahood; Serena (Matt), Tatiana, Jasmine (Bryce), Gabriel (Brianna) Lazdins; Claire (Andrew), Caitlin (Richard), Cole (Stephanie) Morrison; Joseph III (Alexandra), Lucas (Jaimie), Jamila and Patrick Bolahood.

Nana Bea will be missed by her great grandchildren Ella, Harrison, Lane, Charlotte, Justin, Audrey, Iola, Maybelle & Evvelyn.

Born in Iraq on December 6th, 1930, she immigrated to Canada, the country of her heart, in 1951.

She married Joseph Bolahood on February 2nd, 1952 and settled in to be a most unconventional "stay at home" mom.

A force to be reckoned with. A talented seamstress, she would sit at her sewing machine late into the night not only creating garments for clients, but more importantly, for Barbie dolls! Over the years, mom would try her hand at many things – and usually excelled at them (well, except downhill skiing). She was a swimmer, an enthusiastic traveller, a curler as well as a 30-year volunteer with the then Oshawa General Hospital Women's Auxiliary.

An adamant environmentalist - we were taught to reduce, reuse and recycle long before "green" initiatives existed.

She was an avid gardener and knitter and her knit sweaters have become heirlooms treasured by her children and grandchildren. In the kitchen, she was beyond compare! The two kitchen tables were more often than not laden with food and surrounded by family – laughing, teasing, and eating enough "to feed an army!" Around the table, friends were family and food united us all! Above all else, mom loved her family. She was our heartbeat.

Visitation will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Saturday, December 2nd, 2017 from 12 – 3 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Lake Ridge Health Oshawa - Ladies Auxiliary or Lake Ridge Health Oshawa - Palliative Care.

Online condolences may be made at  oshawafuneralhome.com.
