Jones BertramJONES, Bertram   - Retired parking enforcement officer with Toronto Police Services

Passed away peacefully on December 21, 2017 surrounded by family at Lakeridge Health Oshawa.

He was born in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, the third of nine children, to William and Hilda Jones (nee Barrett).

He moved to Kingston, Jamaica at the age of 19 in pursuit of better opportunities.

He began studies in nursing school prior to acceptance for training to become a police officer in the Jamaica Constabulary Force where he worked for more than 10 years.

He immigrated to Canada in 1969, studied to become a registered practical nurse before joining Toronto Police Services. He espoused the principles of getting a good education and working hard.

Bertram had been an active member in church since his youth, and enjoyed hosting choir practices at his home. He was loving, kind, caring and dedicated to family. Bertram enjoyed playing dominoes, cooking and travelling.

He leaves behind his wife Hyacinth; his children: Beverly, Marvelee (Kenny), Joy, Basil (Gilaine), Elaine, Ann (Coywell), Kadian (Karen), Allistair, Anthony, Valda, Alexander and James; his grandchildren: Miles, Jason and Jermaine, Omar, Allando, Jordan, Amal, John Patrick, Ann Marie, Nathan, Keiron (Lilian), Kiwayne, Kadeem, Keanu, Renielle, Desai, Taliah, Nekisha (Seval II), Feleisha, Daniella, and Xavier; his great grandchildren: Renée, Romaine and Kami; his great-great granddaughter and great-great grandson, Seval III; his surviving siblings: Thomas, Fema, Mendis, and Neville; his many nieces, nephews and cousins; and his church family at Toronto North Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

Visitation will be held at Apple Creek Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 700 Apple Creek Blvd, Markham, ON, L3R 7X9, on Thursday December 28th from 10:30 – 11:30 am.

A celebration of his life will follow at 11:30 am. Following the church service, Bertram will be laid to rest Highland Hills Cemetery, 12492 Woodbine Avenue, Gormley, ON, L0H 1G0.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Toronto North Seventh-Day Adventist Church Building Fund, the Kidney Foundation of Canada or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
