MARTIN, Lorne Edward  - Of Beaverton passed away Saturday, December 23, 2017 peacefully at Ross Memorial Hospital.

Lorne was born October 15, 1940 in East York, Toronto to Harold and Elizabeth Martin.

He started his career in 1963 with the Toronto Fire Service and finished his career as Captain in 2000 with Markham Fire Emergency Services.

He liked to stay busy and had several careers in his spare time.

Lorne loved and was dedicated to his family, enjoyed time spent with friends. He loved giving back as an active member of the church and being a member of the Beaverton Lions Club. Lorne is survived by his wife Verna of 55 years; his daughters Debbie Martin (spouse Chris Wonch) and Denise Forgie (spouse Patrick Forgie); five grandchildren Brad Chennie (spouse Megan Chennie), Brittany Chennie, Hollie Chennie, Tyler Brammar and Aaron Brammar; two great-grandchildren Kennedy and Kale Chennie; mother-in-law Lillian Davidson; brother Gerald Martin (spouse Marlene) and several nieces and nephews. Lorne was predeceased by his parents Harold and Elizabeth Martin.

The family wishes to extend their personal thanks to Dr. Sara-Lynn Francis at the Ross Memorial Hospital, Lindsay and Dr. Audrey Li at the Oshawa Cancer Clinic for their professional care and treatment of Lorne over the past weeks.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the Beacan Presbyterian Church, 413 Simcoe Street, Beaverton.

Visitation will start at 12:00, service at 1:00 p.m. Luncheon to follow.

If so desired, memorial donations in memory of Lorne to the Oshawa Cancer Clinic would be greatly appreciated by the family.
