COURTICE, Catherine Helen Courtice (nee Hoar)  - It is with sadness but light hearts that the family of Helen Courtice announce her peaceful passing at the Meaford Long Term Care home in Meaford ON on Thursday January 18, 2018.

She was the dearly loved mother of Catherine Gay Blacha (Meaford) and the loved grandmother of Jessica Murphy (Pat) of Cambridge, Katherine Blacha of Toronto and Richard Blacha (Natasha) of Bognor, ON Also adored great grandmother to Curtis and Lauren Murphy of Cambridge.

She is also survived by her niece Justine McDonnell (Bill) of Huntsville and nephew Courtice Rose (Evelyn) of Lennoxville PQ and their respective children.

She was predeceased by her parents Richard Hoar and Edith May Wilson Hoar as well as by her husband Donald Gay Courtice (1996) and her son Peter Donald Courtice (1987) Mom was a member of the UCW at St. Marks United Church for 20 plus years and loved the comradery and monthly meetings with her friends.

Pot lucks, bazaars and teas were also attended and she was a stickler for being dressed for the occassion with our hat on! Easter Sunday always saw her and all of us decked out in our new attire (Even if we froze to death) Special occasion birthday anniversary and visiting relatives dinners were always met with the her usual flair and she was an accomplished cook Routine was important Mondays were wash days and Fridays were cleaning days.

I still remember Friday night supper was casserole night because she was busy all day. Mom loved her cats and I think we had one in our household for most of her life. Some of them had the same name as the last one! Mom and Dad liked to travel and did a few jaunts to England but mainly the US and Ontario.

Niagara Falls and Ottawa were favorite destinations for Easter, Mother's Day and perhaps a birthday.

The cottage on Lake Couchiching was typically the summer destination for about 15 years. We all enjoyed many beautiful weekends there with family and friends.

Visitation will be held one hour before the service at 10 AM on Wednesday January 24, 2018 with the funeral service at 11 am at MOUNT LAWN FUNERAL HOME & CEMETERY, 21 Garrard Rd Whitby.

In lieu of flowers , donations are welcomed to the Canadian Wildlife Federation, The Canadian Cancer Society or a CHARITY of your choice.
