CALDWELL, John (John, Johnny, Jack) Alderson - of Orono, Ontario, son of the late William Clarence and Robina Muriel (Brown) Caldwell of Watford, Ontario passed away on April 5, 2018 (age 93) at Bowmanville Lakeridge Hospital, with his family at his side.
Predeceased by his beloved wife of 67 years Doris Marguerite (Waller) and his brother George, and sisters Muriel (Sue) and Helen.
Father of Bill (Margaret Steedman), Carol (John Coulson), Janice (Bob McKinley), and Robert. Grandfather of Christopher (Tammy Burns), Stephen (Emiko Tsunado), Leanna (Brad Strang), Michelle (Aaron Letourneau), Jonathan (Haya Finan), Allan (Julie Ptaschnik), Catherine (David Pitt), Ryan, Alex and Mitchell. Great Grandfather of James, Michael, Aiden, McKenzie, Jaycee, Mia, Autumn, Isla May and Alice Rose. Joyous Blessings of a long and wonderful life.
John was a farmer, farm manager and corrections supervisor.
A veteran of WWII, he joined the RCAF on his 18th birthday (February 4, 1943) went overseas as a Pilot Officer in June 1943, flew in Halifax then Lancaster Bombers as Bombardier and 2nd Navigator and was a Flying Officer when he was demobilized in 1946.
Following the war John worked in the family integrated dairy business and then studied in the Diploma program at the Ontario Agricultural College, Guelph where he met his future wife Doris. John was an avid gardener, angler, home craftsman, traveler, shopper, pet lover, member of St. Saviour’s Anglican Church and the Anglican Mens Club, but most of all husband, son, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, cousin, neighbour and friend of those who came to visit John and Doris and share their table. He will be missed.

A memorial service will take place at St. Saviour’s Anglican Church, 23 Mill Street, Orono L0B 1M0 at 11:00 am, Thursday April 12, 2018.
A future memorial gathering is planned for Doris and John in their garden on August 5, 2018.
