McGOVERN, Helen Elsie - May 20, 1929 - January 13, 2018
Passed away, peacefully in her sleep at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on January 13, 2018 at the age of 89.
Predeceased by her loving husbands Larry McGovern and Bill Cox.
Helen was a loving and devoted mother of Paul(Pat) and Loni. Adored nanny of Bryce Walton.
Cherished grandmother of Leslie(Bill) and Tracy. Great grandmother of Tyler, Jamie-Lee, Matthew and Andrea.
She is predeceased by her parents Roy and Elizabeth and by her sister Margaret. Helen will be dearly missed by sister in law Lois, and by many extended family, relatives and friends.
She will be forever remembered for her love of life, cooking, travel and in her earlier years, figure skating. Her passion for the sport took her to many countries, including the Pan Am Games. She had some amazing experiences and forged many friendships with the Whitby Precision Skating Team.
As per her own wishes, there will be no formal funeral service, cremation cremation has taken place.
Our family would like to warmly invite friends for an intimate gathering celebrating the life of our mother.
The Celebration of her life will take place at THORNTON FUNERAL CENTRE (1200 Thornton Rd N, Oshawa, 905-579-6787) on Saturday, May 26, 2018 from 1 to 3pm.
