Olivo Equizi

September 16, 1936 – December 10, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved uncle, Olivo Equizi, at the age of 88. He peacefully departed on December 10, 2024, at Humber River Hospital. Olivo is survived by his sister, Adalgisa, his niece and nephew, Assunta and Cesare, along with their spouses, Mike and Fabiola, and their children, Julian, Adrian, Elessia, and Mara. His memory will live on in the hearts of his relatives, friends, and all who knew him.

Olivo was lovingly cared for by the team at Weston Gardens Retirement Residence, and the family extends their gratitude to everyone who supported him during his time there. Born in L’Aquila, Italy, on September 16, 1936, to Domenico and Domenica Equizi, Olivo was the middle child of three siblings. He proudly served in the Italian military and cherished his passion for music, playing both the accordion and piano.

In his 20s, Olivo emigrated from Italy, seeking opportunities first in Australia and later in Canada, where he established a fulfilling life surrounded by work he loved, gardening, and family. His zest for life, affection for the Italian language, and love for music left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Turner & Porter Funeral Directors, Toronto. Those wishing to honor Olivo’s memory are invited to share messages of condolence online or sign the guestbook.

We will miss you dearly, Zio Olivo, but we take comfort knowing you are reunited with family and friends in a better place, resting peacefully in heaven.
