FORER, Dr. Arthur Professor Emeritus, York University Dr. Arthur Forer passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on June 6, 2024.
Dr. Forer "Art" was a modest man who quietly and rapidly reached great heights in almost everything he pursued.
A Cellular Biologist, Art was educated at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dartmouth College, and the University of Cambridge.
Amongst other associations, Art was an esteemed member of the American Society for Cell Biology and was a Fellow of the Academy of Science of the Royal Society of Canada since 1984.
As a Professor Emeritus at York University, Art remained active in science to the day he died, and his lab remained on the forefront of molecular research. No summary of Art would be complete without mention of his passion for all types of music. An enthusiastic and dedicated "woodwind man," Art enjoyed playing everything from Bach to show-tunes.
Music was always playing in his house and in his head.
Art is survived by his loving wife of almost sixty years, Alexandra; and his two sons, Michael and David.
Art will be greatly missed by his three clever grandchildren, Alexis, Emma, and Preben - each of whom has fond, happy, and very musical memories of their "Farfar."
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you donate to a musical charity of your choice
