Quietly with family close by, Marjorie ‘Dale’ Houlding (Steenburgh) passed away on Wednesday, December 11th, 2024, in Picton during her 83rd year.
Born and raised in ‘The County’, Dale started life on the family farm in Cherry Valley. After a short time away for nursing training, she returned as a lifelong resident. A high school classmate once remarked that Dale was the most beautiful girl in Prince Edward County.
She adored spending time with children, cuddling babies, and running a summer daycare from Hyatt’s Canning Factory. Dale served the Picton community as a cashier, notably at IGA and Giant Tiger, where she became a familiar friend to many.
Cherished daughter of the late Clayton & Marjorie Vader. Caring mother of Scott Houlding and Tracy Bowden (Tim). Enamoured G-Ma of Spencer. Loved sister of the late Roger Steenburgh (Dorothy), Valerie Botts (Paul), and the late Jeff Vader (late Debbie). Beloved Granny Dale to Becka and Enid.
Dale will be fondly missed by many nieces, nephews, friends, and community members. The family extends their thanks to MLP for their care and concern during Dale’s final years.
As per Dale’s wishes, a celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, May 10th, 2025, at Allisonville Hall at 7:00 p.m.
