Lisa Marion Irving

Thursday, November 14th, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lisa Marion Irving, who passed away on November 14, 2024, at Lakeridge Health Oshawa. Lisa was one month shy of her 62nd birthday.

Lisa was predeceased by her mom Nan Irving and dad Lawrence Irving, her aunt Grace, and uncle Jim Irving. She will be sadly missed by her big sister Karen Mccrae and brother-in-law Dan Mccrae. Aunt to Devon Gabus (Chris) and John Wasylyk (Kellie), and great-aunt to Dylan, Levi, Oliver, Anna, and Layla. She will also be missed by Dani Crosby and Katrina Jackson.

Lisa was a flame in a tiny autistic body. She was a connoisseur of all music and would light up your life with her toothless smile. She was a loving sister, and her ability to make everyone feel welcome—until it was time to “get out”—will be deeply missed.

Thank you to Community Living Oshawa Clarington for the love, attentiveness, and care given to Lisa for over 50 years. Cremation has taken place.

A Celebration of Life will take place at Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East, Oshawa, on Sunday, November 24th at 3pm. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 2pm to 3pm.

If you wish to give a donation in memory of Lisa, please consider the Canadian Cancer Society.

Memories and notes of condolence may be shared at Armstrong Funeral Home.

Blazenka “Bea” Tennier

March 14, 1932 – November 10, 2024

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Blazenka “Bea” Tennier, who died peacefully on November 10, 2024, at the age of 92. Blazenka was born on March 14, 1932, in Zagreb, Croatia. In the early 1960s, she immigrated to Canada with her two young children, determined to create a new life in a foreign land. She arrived with little more than her unwavering work ethic and the desire to give her children a better future.

Blazenka's perseverance and resilience led her to overcome many challenges, including learning English entirely on her own, a success she often attributed to watching game shows such as "The Price is Right." Her determination paid off when she became a successful real estate agent with Sutton Group, where she fostered many friendships and enjoyed a long, happy career.

Blazenka was known for her generosity – she was the type to give you the clothes off her back. No one went without in Blazenka’s house, especially not at her dining table. She brought the taste of her childhood in Croatia to the family dining table in Canada, and every meal with her left one feeling very full and very loved. Even the dogs benefited from her cooking, often hand-fed scraps despite her straight-faced exclamation that “I am not feeding the dog!”

Blazenka was predeceased by her beloved husband, Keith, as well as her children Marina, Darko, and Kresimir. She leaves behind her cherished granddaughters, Emily (Scott) and Katherine (Dillon), and two great-grandsons, Ivan and August. She was a proud and loving Baka and Prabaka who cared for her family fiercely.

Her legacy of love, strength, and resilience will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Blazenka will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and the many people whose lives she touched over the years.

A private family service will be held to honor Blazenka’s memory. The family would like to thank the incredible team at the Carpenter Hospice for their utmost care in Blazenka’s final days. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Carpenter Hospice in Burlington, ON.

Online condolences may be shared at Armstrong Funeral Home.
