Mike passed away peacefully at the age of 80, serenaded by bagpipes to help him on his way, on December 12th, 2024, after a long, hard-fought battle with cancer.

Husband of 20 years to Sandra. Father of Stephen and Kevin, and step-daughter Shannon (Perry). Brother to Veronica (Dave), Mary Ann (Brent), Bernadette (Dave), Gerald, Terry, and the late John.

Michael worked at Fitzgerald Fuels for 34 years in heating and air conditioning, retiring in 2004. Before he became ill, he enjoyed wood carving with the Ennismore seniors.

The family is grateful for the care and compassion Michael received at Peterborough Extendicare Violet Way for the past three years.

Lola Hobbs Sararas

1936 - December 2, 2024

Lola Marie Hobbs (nee Sararas), retired RNA, passed away peacefully at Smiths Falls Hospital on December 2, 2024, in her 88th year. Beloved wife of Garnet for 60 years, Lola was the dear mother of Karen Lavoie (Yves) of Smiths Falls, Ruth Sutcliffe (Ryan) of Orono, and Mark Hobbs (Morag) of Orono. She was a loving grandmother to Sarah Yates (Travis), Danielle Hobbs, Adam Hobbs, and Christina Sutcliffe, and cherished great-grandmother to Kaelyn Dempsey-Yates, Hannah, and Elliott.

Lola is fondly remembered by her siblings, the late Carman Sararas (Marilyn), Robert Sararas (Barbara), and the late Randy Sararas, as well as by many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends in Nanticoke, Bancroft, and Madoc. Preceded by her parents, Lola was a skilled cook, avid gardener, and an enthusiastic camper, traveling coast to coast in Canada and the USA.

Lola proudly served as Past District Director of Eastern Ontario and Quebec for the Canadian Coast to Coast Calorie Counters. Following her wishes, cremation has taken place, and a small family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
