Gwendolyn Eileen Gwen Landry

February 20, 1934 – December 13, 2024

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gwen (Schumacher) Landry at the age of 90 in Perth, Ontario. Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Gwen was raised by her maternal grandparents, Anna and Peter Schumacher of Provost, Alberta.

Gwen will be lovingly remembered by her children, Peter (Carrie) of Brockville and Sue Landry of Perth; grandsons Ryan Pugh of Kingston and Michael Toohey of Lanark; sister Marion Kelch of Czar, AB; the Berube family of Beaumont, AB, whom she met later in life; the extended family of the Landrys and Arsenaults spread across Canada; and her many dear friends.

Gwen was predeceased by her daughter Cindy (1980) and her beloved husband Mike (2004), as well as many other family members over the course of time.

Visitation Details: Family and friends will be received for visitation on Friday, December 20, 2024, at Barclay Funeral Home, 137 Pearl St. E., Brockville, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., followed by the Funeral Liturgy in the Chapel at 1:00 p.m.

Interment Details: Interment will take place at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ontario SPCA Leeds Grenville or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Helen Edythe Ring

1927 - November 30, 2024

Helen Edythe Ring, aged 96, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2024, at Brockville General Hospital. Born in Toronto, Ontario, Helen was the daughter of the late Jim and Ellen Andrews (née Howarth). She was the loving mother of Kerstin (Michael), Jennifer, and Vanessa (John) and doting grandmother to Roman and Eva. She was predeceased by her son Jim and brother Lorne Andrews.

Helen grew up in North Toronto, attended Lawrence Park Collegiate, and made friends easily. In her high school years, she joined the Toronto Ski Club and loved skiing trips to Richmond Hill and the Laurentians. She worked in cottage country during summers and later as a teller at the Imperial Bank in Toronto.

Helen married Ted Ring in 1954 and settled on Toronto Island before moving to Nephton, Ontario, and later to the Beaches neighborhood in Toronto. A single mother of four by 1966, Helen worked full-time and supported her family with resilience and grace, retiring after 21 years at CIBC Wood Gundy as a manager of the coding department.

Known for her vibrant personality, sharp wit, and generosity, Helen hosted many gatherings in her Beaches home, creating a welcoming space for her family and their friends. She was a role model for independent women, admired for her strength, vivacity, and no-nonsense demeanor.

Helen desired no formal funeral or memorial service. To honor her memory, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or a local charity of your choice. Vera Wilhelmine McNish

1951 - December 2, 2024

Entered into rest on Monday, December 2, 2024, Vera Wilhelmine (Hargrave) McNish of Lyn, Ontario, passed away at the age of 73. Beloved wife of John McNish, cherished mother of Tammy Turner (Grant) and Adam McNish (Alyson), and proud grandmother of Lara, Erin, Peyton, and Audrey.

Vera is also survived by her siblings Judy Cathcart, John Hargrave, Ada Belcourt, Jim Hargrave, Ellen McNish, Jeff Hargrave, David Hargrave, and Steve Hargrave, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents John and Vera Hargrave, her brothers Matthew and Gary Hargrave, and her sister Mary Bryan.

Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service at Barclay Funeral Home, 137 Pearl Street E., Brockville, on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. A private family interment will take place at a later date.

Alan Whalen

December 10, 1952 - December 2, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father, Alan Whalen, who passed peacefully on December 2, 2024, just days shy of his 72nd birthday. Alan was the loving father of Sean, Tim, and Meaghan, and the cherished grandfather of Travis, Austin, and Aidan.

Alan is also survived by his siblings Phyllis, Richard, and Yvonne. Despite facing many hardships, Alan had a depth that could catch you by surprise, a sharp sense of humor, and an appreciation for life’s quieter moments.

His life reminds us of the importance of compassion and understanding. Alan always found peace along the St. Lawrence River, where he will be laid to rest.

A private service will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, donations to organizations supporting mental health and addiction recovery would be greatly appreciated in Alan’s memory.

David Michael Shaver

1944 - November 30, 2024

Entered into rest at the Brockville General Hospital, with his family by his side, on Saturday, November 30, 2024, David Michael Shaver of Brockville passed away at the age of 80. Beloved husband of Nancy (née Tew), David was a devoted family man who will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his loving children, Michael, Steven (Lisa), and Andrea (Don), as well as his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. David is also survived by his dear sister, Margurite “Peggy” (Gerry), and many extended family members.

As per David’s wishes, cremation will take place. In his memory, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated by the family.

November 28, 1945 – November 24, 2024

Sharon M. Flood (nee Fraser) of Athens, Ontario, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 24, 2024, just days shy of her 79th birthday. Sharon was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose kindness and love touched everyone who knew her.

Born on November 28, 1945, in Prescott, Ontario, to Harper and Helen Fraser, Sharon graduated from the St. Lawrence College RNA program. She worked for Black and Decker in Brockville, Ontario, for over 25 years before her retirement.

Sharon married Glenn Flood on March 19, 1966, and together they raised two children, Glenn (Lynn Orzel) Flood Jr. and Angela (Jake) Bezaire. She was a devoted grandmother to Kasia (Stephane Drolet) Flood, Kara Flood, Harper Bezaire, Evangeline Bezaire, and Lucille Bezaire, and a proud great-grandmother to Callum and Raina Drolet.

Sharon is survived by her siblings Jim, Joan, Jean, Fred, Jack, Edith, Pauline, and Bernice, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents and siblings Tom, Edna, and Ray.

As per Sharon’s wishes, no service will be held. In her memory, the family would appreciate donations to the Palliative Care Program. 1947 – 2024

It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Gail Elizabeth Hunt at the age of 77 at Brockville General Hospital. Gail was a dedicated and beloved bus driver for over 45 years, taking great pride in ensuring the safety of her young passengers. During her summers, Gail cherished spending time camping and enjoying the trailer with her grandsons Zachary, Kaelan, Colyn, and Emerson, where they made s’mores and octopus hotdogs.

Gail leaves behind her best friend and husband of 57 years, Lorne. The two soulmates enjoyed evenings at bingo, Sunday drives to the casino, and dinner dates at Blockhouse Island. Gail and Lorne loved spending time with family and friends, especially their son Jayson (Julie) and daughter Lisa (Jeff), with whom they spent every holiday.

Gail is also survived by her beloved sister, Mary Shultz, and sisters-in-law Judy Sargent (Charles) and Marilyn Haskin, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Gladys Delosh, and her sisters Frances and another sister in infancy.

Rest in peace, Gail. Your memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved you.

Barbara Ellen McNamee
October 16, 1946 ~ July 15, 2024

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Barbara Ellen McNamee of Brockville, Ontario. Born in Prescott, Ontario, Barbara departed this life on July 15, 2024, at the age of 77. She will be deeply missed by her family and all those who knew her.

Predeceased by her parents Harry and Hilda Greer and sisters Margaret Bernier, Joan Greer, and Debra Greer, Barbara leaves behind her beloved husband of 52 years, John McNamee. She was a loving sister to Shirley Greer and Patricia Brennan, a devoted mother to Laura Julien (Chris) and Aimee McNamee, and a proud grandmother to Philip (Kit), Thomas (Holly), and Ruby.

Visitation Details
Date: Sunday, July 21st, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Amby Rose McMann
1923 ~ 2024

Peacefully entered into rest at Sandfield Place in Cornwall on Wednesday, September 11th, 2024, at the remarkable age of 101. Amby Rose McMann (nee Miller), formerly of Greely and Brockville, was the beloved wife of the late Herbert McMann.

Loving mother of Gary McMann (Corinne) of Belleville, Deborah McDonald (Charles) of Apple Hill, and Janice Vanden Tillaart (the late Jim) of Kemptville. She was predeceased by her daughter Joan McMann of Langley, BC. Cherished grandmother of Stephen, Wendy, Christine, Darren, Kyle, Jennifer, Jessica, Ian, and James; great-grandmother of 17 and great-great-grandmother of 2. Amby was the daughter of the late James and Bertha (Richards) Miller and sister to the late Lena Hess, Gladys Theobald, Noma Forbes, and brothers Charles, Truman, Elmer, and Clarence Miller. She will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.
