Robert John Baxter "Bob"

April 9, 1947 – November 25, 2024

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Robert John "Bob" Baxter on November 25, 2024, at the age of 77. Bob was surrounded by his family at Algoma Manor, where he spent his final days.

Beloved husband of 13 years to Noreen (née Jones), Bob was a proud father to Jeffrey Baxter (Constance) and Natalie Robinson (Colin) and a cherished Grandpa to Tyler and Olivia. He was predeceased by their mother Maureen (née Gilmour). Bob is lovingly remembered by his sister Shirley Cannon (late Bob), as well as nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Orval and Edna Baxter.

Born and raised in Caledon East, Bob served as a Provincial Offenses Officer for the Conservation Authority of Ontario for 30 years, an achievement he held with pride. He had a deep respect for nature, enjoying hunting, fishing, and training his hound dogs. Bob loved the outdoors, whether portaging his canoe across rugged terrains or ice fishing in the winter.

Despite his quiet personality, Bob loved socializing with family and friends and was a dedicated member of Thessalon Bible Chapel, where he and Noreen found fellowship and spiritual connection. His witty sense of humor, feisty comebacks, and creative nicknames will be dearly missed.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at NSHN-Blind River for their exceptional care, Algoma Manor for their compassion, and the Thessalon Bible Chapel for their unwavering support and fellowship.

Family and friends are invited to visit at Beggs Funeral Home, 175 Main Street, Thessalon, on Thursday, November 28, 2024, between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Algoma Manor Charitable Foundation are appreciated.
