Nelson Figueiredo, age 56, passed away on December 31, 2024, at the Mena Regional Health System in Mena, Arkansas. Born in Toronto, Canada, Nelson was the son of Jose Batista and Olinda Figueiredo. He embraced life with humor and care, touching everyone he met with his kindness and warmth.
Nelson is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Mariana (Lumy), his parents, Jose and Olinda Figueiredo, his brother Manny (Elizabeth), his sister Julie (Wayne Grimmer), and his beloved nieces and nephews. His warmth, kindness, and love for his family will be deeply missed.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association.

It is with sorrow that the family of Benjamin C. Travassos announce his peaceful passing at home on January 3, 2025, in his 85th year.
Benjamin was the beloved husband of the late Carmina Travassos for 63 years and a loving father to Fatima Labinowicz, Carmina Oliveira (Joe), and Benjamin F. Travassos. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Tara Nagentheren (Shandeep), Erika Saraiva (Jon), Emily Osmow (Ben), and Abigail Oliveira.
Born in Rabo de Peixe, Açores, Portugal, Benjamin emigrated to Canada in 1973. He was a man of deep faith and a pillar of the Portuguese community, with a lifelong love for the Filarmonica band.
Visitation will be held at Cardinal Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, from 4 PM to 8 PM. A funeral mass will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Toronto, on January 8, 2025, at 10:00 AM, followed by interment at Park Lawn Cemetery.

Maria was the daughter of the late Guilherme and Maria Justina Rodrigues. She was the loving wife of Mauricio Sarmiento, adoring mother of Justina Sarmiento and Cassandra Sarmiento, and caring sister of Vasco Rodrigues.
She was deeply loved and cherished by her husband, Mauricio, and her two daughters, Justina and Cassandra. Maria’s strength of spirit, love, and hope for the future will be cherished forever.

It is with profound sadness that the family of Michael A. Correia announces his sudden passing on December 23, 2024, at the age of 61. Known to many as “the man, the myth, the legend (Mike),” he lived a life filled with laughter, love, and unwavering passion for the things he cared most about.
He leaves behind his loving children, Michael J. Correia and Samantha Correia, and his devoted fiancée, Pamela Jeyasingham, with whom he shared plans for a bright future. Mike is also survived by his father, Ernesto Correia; his sister, Elizabeth Correia; his brother, Victor Correia (Lisa Correia); and their children, Evalina and Mason Correia. He is predeceased by his beloved mother, Odilia Correia, with whom he now rests peacefully.
A lifelong fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Mike was always hopeful that “this would be their year.” He also loved wrestling, cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and enjoying a cold beer in the company of family and friends. Whether it was through his jokes, stories, or simply his presence, Mike had an incredible ability to bring people closer and make every gathering unforgettable. Above all, he was a devoted father, a loving son, a supportive brother, a loyal partner, and a cherished friend.
Mike will be deeply missed by all who had the honour of knowing him. His legacy of love, strength, and cherished memories will live on in the stories shared, the laughter remembered, and every toast raised with a Molson Canadian or a rum and coke.

Peacefully passed at St. Joseph’s Hospital on December 20, 2024, in his 96th year. He was loved and will be missed by his beloved wife Tina, dear father of Michael (Sarah) and John, and loving grandfather of Jonathan (Mel), Lauren (Dan), and Jordan. Cherished great-grandfather of Hudson.
