Madeline Jane Cooper passed away peacefully at Matthews House Hospice in Alliston on Thursday, December 19, 2024, just two days after her 90th birthday. Jane’s courage and quiet determination enabled her to carry on while battling cancer, with her cherished calico cat Perdita by her side.
She was a loving wife and best friend to Reed (d. 2006), and a devoted mother to her daughters Sheila (Steve McCutcheon) and Lisa (Richard Ritson). She was much loved by her granddaughters Renée and Brenna McCutcheon and Julianne Ritson. Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Jane grew up as a quiet, shy child who loved books and cats.
Jane’s life was full of rich experiences, from attending Prince Rupert School in Wilhelmshaven, Germany, after World War II, to earning her B.A. at McMaster University and later her Master of Library Science at the University of Toronto while raising two daughters. Jane enjoyed a successful career as a librarian, culminating in her role as head of circulation at Robarts Library, University of Toronto.
After retiring, Jane and Reed moved to their country house in the Mulmur Hills. Jane dedicated her time to organizing gallery shows, tending to her garden, and volunteering for various organizations including Hospice Dufferin and the Dufferin County Museum. A passionate lover of books, Jane was an active member of book clubs and writing groups, writing short stories, columns, and a novel. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Clement’s Anglican Church in Toronto and later St. Luke’s in Rosemont.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke’s Anglican Church, 508551 Hwy 89, Rosemont. Following the service, family and friends are invited to Drury Funeral Centre, 519 Victoria St. E., Alliston, for fellowship and refreshments from 12:30 – 2:30 p.m. Special thanks to Jane’s caregivers, the staff at Hennick Bridgepoint and Mount Sinai hospitals, SE Health, and Matthews House Hospice.

Lorraine Catherine Jones passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 21, 2024, in her 88th year. Beloved wife of the late Warren E. Jones. Loving mother of Kimberly Jones (Jason) and cherished grandmother to Natasha and Baylie, and great-grandmother to Hadlee and Laycee. She is also remembered with love by her bonus daughter Judith (David Alexander).
Lorraine will be dearly missed by her sister Gail Boyd and brother Bill Greavette (Donna), as well as by her niece Karen Beckman, nephews, great-nephews, and her extended family and friends. She shared many happy moments with “The Granny’s” from Grandmothers Embrace of Alliston, the “Red Hat Society,” and the “GNO Choir,” where she formed lasting friendships. Lorraine’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends, and she will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held at Drury Funeral Centre, 519 Victoria St. E., Alliston, on Sunday, October 6, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m., with a reception to follow.
Wayne Mundy
January 24, 1943 - October 19, 2024
Wayne Mundy passed away peacefully at Stevenson Memorial Hospital on Saturday, October 19, 2024, in his 82nd year.
Loving husband of Catherine. Loved father of Pauline Miller, Dennis Mundy (Ann), and Tracy Jackson (Rick). Adored grandpa of Richard, Devon, Emma, and Hannah, and proud great-grandpa of Catherine. Cherished brother of Terry Mundy and Gwen Preeson (Ray). Wayne will be fondly remembered by his brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends.
Wayne had a fulfilling career as a bookkeeper, and upon retiring, he enjoyed driving a school bus. Cathy and Wayne cherished their summers, traveling and camping across Canada with their kids and grandkids in their “Joey Camper.”
Visitation will take place at Drury Funeral Centre (519 Victoria St. E., Alliston) on Thursday, October 24, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception (4781 Conc. Rd. 5, Alliston) on Friday, October 25, at 10:30 a.m.
If desired, memorial donations to the Royal Victoria Hospital Cancer Centre or St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church would be greatly appreciated.
