John "Swanny" Swann

2024

After a brief and unexpected illness, we are deeply saddened to announce the peaceful passing of John "Swanny" Swann, surrounded by his loving family. John was known for his warmth, generosity, and zest for life, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Predeceased by his parents, John Swann Sr. and Joanne Brown, John is survived by his devoted spouse, Anne, and his beloved children: Jake (Amy), Nick, Ashley (Adam), and Brent (Mark). He was the proud and cherished Grandpa to Izzy, Zachary, Hailey, Quinn, and Baby Mason. John will be lovingly remembered by his siblings Patty Swann (Linda), Ken Ball (Victoria), Tammy St. Dennis (Dean), and Dino Chiodo (Deborah).

Recently retired from Chrysler, John was also a passionate Steelers fan and a friend to many. His open-door policy and infectious spirit created a home filled with warmth and welcome. John’s family extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who visited him in the hospital, as well as the exceptional doctors and nurses at the Metropolitan Hospital ICU for their compassionate care.

Friends and family are invited to visitation on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Families First, 1065 Lauzon Rd., Windsor. Cremation will follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association in John’s memory.

Benjamin Sterling Krnac

November 12, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of sweet baby Benjamin Sterling Krnac on November 12, 2024. Born with a tiny button nose, jet black hair, and rosebud lips, Benjamin weighed 6lbs 5oz and was pure perfection.

Beloved son of Ana Krnac and cherished grandson to his Dida and Baka, Milko and Ljiljana Krnac. Benjamin was the adored nephew and cousin to many and is now reunited with his big cousin Noah in heaven.

“Benjamin, I will always be grateful for the nine months I carried you in my womb—your life, although short, was my greatest gift. You will forever be my baby boy. Love you to the heavens and back.” – Mama

A private family viewing has been held. Friends and family are welcome to attend a graveside service at Heavenly Rest Cemetery, 5005 Howard Ave, Windsor, ON, on November 18, 2024, at 2:30 PM.

Diane Corinne O’Neil

1963 - November 10, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Diane on November 10, 2024, at the age of 61. Diane was a loving sister to Carolyn O’Neil, Allen O’Neil, and Theresa Chandler, and a cherished aunt to Rick O’Neil, Stacy Slater, and Paige Chandler.

Predeceased by her parents, Bill and Carmen O’Neil, as well as her stepmother, Helen Tapak, Diane’s memory will be forever cherished by her family and friends.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial visitation honoring Diane’s life at Families First South Windsor (3260 Dougall Ave, Windsor, ON) on Friday, November 22, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A private family interment will follow.

Gerald "Gerry" Holder

1925 – November 5, 2024

Gerald "Gerry" Holder peacefully passed away on November 5, 2024, at the age of 99, reunited with his beloved wife of 69 years, Joyce. Gerry was a cherished father to Betty Jean Oltean (Terry) and Sandra Ouellette (Tom), and a devoted grandfather to Derek, Shane, Paula, Renée, and Laurie. He was a proud great-grandfather to Jonas, Maxim, Zachery, Rhys, Justin, Marissa, and Marshall.

He will also be missed by his dear friend Edythe Smith. Gerry is now reunited with his loyal leader dogs, who were his companions and guides for many years. He will be fondly remembered for his resilience, warmth, and love for his family and friends.

A private family interment has been held. Arrangements are entrusted to Families First South Windsor (3260 Dougall Ave) 519-969-5841.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father and nonno, Antonio, on October 16, 2024, at the age of 99. Antonio is now reunited with his beloved wife Nella and son Joseph (Maria).

He was a devoted father to Frank (Susanna), Augie (Cathy), Rosemary (Steve Paton), and Alex, and a cherished nonno to Patrick, Paul, John, Daniel, Michael, Jenna, Andrea, Anthony, Joya, Meagan, Michelle, Robert, Hailey, and Lindsey. Antonio was a loving nonno to 18 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents, Giuseppe and Rosina, and siblings Vincenzo, Carmelina, and Maria, he is survived by his dear sister Teresa Barberio (Luigi). He will be deeply missed by his many nieces and nephews in Canada, Italy, and France.

Antonio immigrated to Canada in 1959 to build a new life with his family in Windsor, Ontario, though he never forgot his Italian roots. After a long and dedicated career, Antonio retired from Devonshire Mall in 1990. In his retirement, he took pride in his garden, especially his tomatoes, fig trees, and his immaculate lawn, where his grandchildren fondly remember him saying, “Get off my grass!” He was an avid sports fan, particularly cheering for the Blue Jays and Maple Leafs.

A special thank you to the staff at Chateau Park nursing home for their compassionate care of our father.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Transition to Betterness would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Families First South Windsor (3260 Dougall Ave., 519-969-5841). A procession to St. Alphonsus Cemetery will follow for burial.

Larry Zavitz
2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Larry Zavitz on Wednesday, October 16th, 2024, at the age of 83 years. Larry is survived by his loving spouse Judy, with whom he shared 59 years of marriage. He was a devoted father to Laurie (James Marsh) Zavitz and Annette Chapple, and an adored grandpa to Nicole and Will Chapple. He will also be fondly remembered by his large and loving extended family.

Larry was a dedicated family man and an award-winning photographer. Despite his battle with ALS, he never lost his sense of humour or his vibrant spirit. His resilience and positivity inspired all who knew him.

In Larry’s memory, donations may be made to the ALS Society of Windsor-Essex County or The Hospice – Erie Shores Campus, as these organizations were dear to his heart.

Memorial visitation will be held at Families First East Windsor (1065 Lauzon Road) on Sunday, October 20th, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

2024

At the age of 79, Keith Michael Spratt transitioned into God’s glory on October 14, 2024, surrounded by his adoring family. He was the beloved husband and best friend of Marcia “Marsh,” the love of his life. Keith was a devoted and loving father to Jamie (Kevin) Morneau, Jocelyn (Pete) Grammatico, Jeanelle (John) Spratt-Paul, and Joelle (Matt) Green. He was a cherished and playful Poppa to Malia, Ellesia, Maiya, Christina, Keith, Miles, and Sutton.

Keith is survived by his dear brother Gary (Sue), and was predeceased by his siblings Brian, Karen, and Linda. He was a loving brother-in-law to Theresa (Adrian) Sanderson, and is reunited with his parents, Gertrude (Bud) and Nolan, and his brother-in-law Wade Gates. He will be deeply missed by his many nieces and nephews, who he treated as his own children.

Throughout his life, Keith did God’s work, serving as a Big Brother, sponsoring people affected by war, and dedicating his efforts to the Knights of Columbus. He was a fierce advocate for justice, always standing up for the underdog. His generosity knew no bounds, and he worked tirelessly to ensure everyone felt loved and included. Keith’s heart was especially connected to the people of Haiti, where he and Marcia established a Sponsorship Program for children and the elderly, as well as a medical fund to support those in need.

However, nothing compared to the deep love Keith held for his family. They were his pride and joy, and his legacy lives on through them. His family was his sunrise and sunset, and they will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

Donations in Keith’s memory may be made to Hearts Together for Haiti or the Javelin Education and Medical Fund.

Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3:00-5:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m., with parish prayers at 7:30 p.m., at Families First, 3260 Dougall Ave., South Windsor. Family and friends are invited to gather after 10:00 a.m. for the funeral mass, which will take place at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 904 Grand Marais Road East. Cremation will follow.

1954 - 2024

It is with sad and broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Samuel Glen Bridgen in 2024, surrounded by his loving family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Sam, known for his positive spirit, was the best friend and soul mate to Ruth (née Armbrust), his wife of 46 wonderful years. He was the cherished and devoted father of Jodi (Chris), Lorene (Brian), and Kevin (Melissa). Proud Grandpa to Taylor, Gabby, and soon-to-arrive Baby Lennie, Sam was especially adored by his great-great-niece Gracie Rose.

Sam will be missed by his lifelong best friend, Gordon Mundy, whom he had known for over 70 years. He was the beloved son of Glen (2010) and Janet Bridgen (2023), and son-in-law to George (2008) and Marjorie (2018) Armbrust. Dear brother to Elsie, Kaye (Jim), Beverly, Maxwell (Ron), Nancy, and Brad (late Omar 2019). He was a special brother-in-law to Helen Geddes, Marlene Crepp, and Donald Armbrust. Sam's nieces, nephews, and many others will remember him for his generosity and skill as “Mr. Fix-It.” His passion for fixing motors and helping others was well-known in the community, and his garage was often the go-to place for any repair needs.

A valued and dedicated employee at Moncur Electric/Morrish Electro Mechanical for over 35 years, Sam’s work and his willingness to assist others made him a pillar of his community. His family is deeply grateful to Dr. Jeff Price, Dr. Woldie, Dr. Jarrar, and the Windsor Cancer Centre staff, as well as the Emergency Department and the 7th-floor team at Metropolitan Hospital. Special thanks to the Hospice of Windsor for their compassionate care during Sam's final days.

Visitation will be held at Families First East Windsor (1065 Lauzon Road) on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Cremation will follow, and a private memorial service and interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the All Saints’ Anglican Church Memorial Fund or The Hospice of Windsor and Essex County.
