Jason Potter

1955 – November 26, 2024

Jason Potter passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on November 26, 2024, at the age of 69.

Beloved father of Jason Jr. Potter and Mary (Darin) Ellis-Anger. Loving grandpa to seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his siblings Patti, Celeste, and John. He is also fondly remembered by his nephew, extended family, and many friends.

Jason was a master electrician who took immense pride in his work. He was passionate about his hot rod, a 1930 Model A, and loved listening to 1970s rock and roll music. Jason will always be remembered for his big heart and great sense of humour.

Cremation services have been entrusted to Kennedy Funeral Home Ltd. (519-776-7378) at 128 Talbot St. North, Essex, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Ontario.

Kenneth "Ken" McCarthy

1942 – November 25, 2024

Kenneth "Ken" McCarthy passed away peacefully on November 25, 2024, at the age of 82, surrounded by his family. Ken was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who touched the lives of all who knew him.

Beloved husband of Barbara (née Ducharme) for 62 years, Ken is lovingly remembered by his daughters Laurie (Mark), Sherry (Pat), and Diane (Len). He was a cherished grandfather to Jenna (Corey), Chris, Kay (Scotty), Matt (Erin), Dylan, Jess (Kody), and Meaghan, and a proud great-grandfather to Payton, Nyah, Harley, and one more on the way. Ken was predeceased by his parents Wilfred and Loretta, and his in-laws Ben and Irene Ducharme.

Ken founded McCarthy Trucking, a company that became a testament to his hard work, vision, and entrepreneurial spirit. A skilled mechanic and passionate farmer, Ken deeply valued the hands-on work of maintaining his lands in Maidstone. He also had a love for travel, creating countless memories with family and friends.

The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to Jackie and the staff at Hotel Dieu Grace Healthcare, Palliative Wing, for their compassionate care during Ken’s final days.

Visitation will be held at Kennedy Funeral Home Ltd., 128 Talbot St. North, Essex, on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. and 6:00–8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday, November 28, 2024, at St. Mary’s Parish, Maidstone, from 11:00 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hotel Dieu Grace Healthcare Palliative Care Unit. Condolences can be shared online at www.kennedyfh.com.

Mildred “Millie” Lecocq

July 30, 1921 - November 8, 2024

Mildred “Millie” Lecocq passed away peacefully on November 8, 2024, at the remarkable age of 103. Millie was the beloved wife of the late Garnet Lecocq (1999) and a devoted mother to Bonnie Lynn and the late Michelle Marie (1981). She was a cherished grandmother to Robert, the late Kevin (2023), and Cory, and a loving great-grandmother to three special great-grandchildren. Millie was predeceased by her six sisters and one brother, yet her memory lives on in the hearts of her nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Millie served as a ward clerk at Windsor’s Grace and Riverview hospitals, where her dedication and compassion touched the lives of many. Her warmth, kindness, and friendship will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Earl Grisdale

Date of Passing: October 23, 2024

Earl Grisdale passed away on October 23, 2024, at the age of 80. He was the loving husband of Ruth (Ulch) and a cherished father to Carrie Lynn, Earl, Kevin, Melissa, and Randy. Earl is fondly remembered by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Earl was a dear brother to the late Clara Alberta, Sundae McQuillan, the late John Grisdale, the late Gerry Grisdale, and Norma McQuillan. His memory will be held close by all who knew him.

Doug Heil

Date of Passing: October 20, 2024

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Doug Heil in London on October 20, 2024, at the age of 71, with his family by his side. Doug was the dear son of the late Earl and Addie Heil, and a cherished brother to Larry (Gerry) Heil, Sharon (Vaughn) Hartley, Bruce, Donna (late Don) Ramsay, Nancy Bechard, Tim (Christine), and the late Mike (Chrissie). He will be greatly missed by his dear friend, Dawn Smith, along with many loving nieces and nephews.

Doug retired from the University of Windsor after over 30 years of service as a Stationary Engineer. He was a dedicated member of the Es Retirees and the Es Kent Bluegrass Society, and he also generously volunteered at the Canadian Transportation Museum.

Visitation for Doug will be held at Kennedy Funeral Home Ltd. (128 Talbot St. North, Essex) on Thursday from 2:00–4:00 PM and 6:00–8:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday at Holy Name of Jesus Parish (146 Talbot St. S, Essex) at 11:00 AM, with the funeral mass to begin at 11:30 AM. Cremation will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Doug’s memory may be made to Erie Shores Hospice (via Erie Shores Health Foundation) or Windsor Hospice. These gestures of kindness are greatly appreciated by the family.
