Robert James McBain

Robert James McBain, affectionately known as "Bubs," passed away peacefully on January 1, 2025, at the age of 92. Known for his dynamic personality and adventurous spirit, Robert was a beloved father, grandfather, and cherished friend. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

As per his wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. Donations in Robert's memory may be made to Downsview Long Term Care Centre, a Food Bank, or a charity of your choice.

Edward Alexander Strath

2024

Edward Alexander Strath passed away peacefully at the Cortellucci Health Centre in Vaughan on Saturday, December 14, 2024, in his 67th year. Beloved father of Adam and Peter Strath. Dear son of Mary (late Graham) Strath. Loved brother of Anne (Al) McLean, Cindy (Kevin) Fleming, and Becky (late Daryl) Halloch. Edward will be missed by his nieces and nephews Jennifer, Danielle, Amanda, Scott, Jack, and Makenna, and his six great-nieces and nephews.

Ed was an active member of the Maple Lions Club of District A-16, where he held many positions, including president of the Club for several years. During his membership, the Maple Lions Club won the prestigious International Kindness Matters Service Award for Club Activity. He loved to help at the annual pancake breakfasts and turkey shoots. Ed was also a very active member of the Zion Church in Maple and will be greatly missed by the entire Lions Club Community as well as his Church Community.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice.

Edward Kenneth "Ted" Woodcock
1944 - 2024

Ted Woodcock took his last earthly breath at his Orr Lake home, surrounded by his devoted wife, Ruth, his daughter Jenn, his son Lou, grandsons Kai and Riley, sisters Lana and Linda, niece Tracey, and cherished family friend Mary.

Ted’s extended family, including his brother Bill, sisters-in-law Ruby, Marion, and Jean, Jennifer’s birth mother Sonya, as well as his nieces, nephews, and close family friends, were all present in spirit and shared in their loving goodbyes. Throughout his life, Ted created an incredible legacy of dedication, passion, and love.

Starting his career at Ontario Hydro in the control room at age 18, Ted worked his way up to become a Human Resources Officer, then a Home Inspector, Engineer, Electrician, builder, and sailor. He was also the Orr Lake steward for water quality and community, a Boy Scout Master, and a talented home chef. Ted was known for his warmth, humor, and unyielding commitment to family and community.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life on June 14, 2025, at 2:00 pm at his Orr Lake home. All are welcome to join this potluck gathering in honor of Ted’s life and legacy.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ted’s memory may be made to SickKids Hospital, Alzheimer’s and Dementia charities, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
