Marilyn Evelyn Day (née Lapointe)

April 15, 1937 – December 10, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marilyn Evelyn Day (née Lapointe) peacefully at St. Lawrence Lodge on December 10th, 2024, at the age of 87. Proud mother of Harold (Malana) and Rick (Bev). Step-mother to Judy (Bob), Rick, Tom (Joyce), Chris, and Anne (Mike). Cherished Nanny of Tara (Jason), Jamie (Krystina), Timmy (Jenni), Mahlina (Tom), and Sophie (Frank). “Step” Gramma to Miranda (Greg), Christianne (Kyle), Ryan, Alexis (Danny), Jessica (Jeff), Timmy (Monica), and Kayla (Burwell). Marilyn leaves behind 21 great-grandchildren.

Predeceased by her husband Richard (Dick) Day, her daughter Barbara, step-daughter Brenda, sisters Ila and Betty, brother Gary, and step-grandson David. She will be fondly remembered by her nephew Charlie (Debbie), sister-in-law Elsie Clark, and many other friends and family members.

Marilyn had a special love for Bingo, Elvis, Christmas, and having all of her family in one place. She will be remembered for her unwavering kindness, laughter, and generosity in the communities of Newboro and Westport. The family would like to thank the staff of St. Lawrence Lodge in Brockville for their care of Marilyn over the last seven months, especially in her last days.

There will be visitation at Lyons Funeral Home, Westport, on January 5 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., where a Memorial Service will take place at 3:30 p.m. Interment will take place at Newboro United Church Cemetery in the Spring.

Joe Wilson

August 9, 1968 – October 13, 2024

Suddenly on Sunday, October 13, 2024, Joe Wilson of Westport passed away. Son of the late Earl and Nila Wilson. Loving father of Krista Green-Wilson. Beloved brother of Bonne (Marcel) Hatcher and Lisa Wilson. Cherished uncle of Terry, Tristan, and Connor. Joe was predeceased by his loving partner, Ethel Green.

Stavros Korinis

April 2, 1951 – November 15, 2024

Stavros Korinis, born on April 2, 1951, peacefully passed on November 15, 2024. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Georgia Korini (née Vergopoulos), and their two children, Panagiota and Ryan Rios, and Ioannis and Rebecca Korenis. He was a loving grandfather to Maria, Eva, Alexis, Joshua, and Noah. He will be fondly remembered by his sister Anna and her husband John Mavraganis, as well as Xrisoula and Thanasis Grigori, Athena and Chris Vergopoulos, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews here and in Greece.

He was the son of Ioannis and Panagiota Korinis of Kalivia Sohas, Lakonias, Greece. An avid runner in Greece, Stavros won numerous awards in school. He was a hardworking man and immigrated to Canada at the age of 16, settling in Arnprior, Ontario. Stavros began his career in the restaurant business and owned his first restaurant in Elgin, Ontario. He married his beautiful wife of 45 years, Georgia Korini, in Sparti on July 1, 1979. They later moved to Westport, where they opened their second restaurant, Steve’s Rideau Restaurant, which he operated with his son, John, and ran successfully for over 40 years. Stavros also expanded into building development locally and internationally. He will be remembered for his selfless sacrifices and unwavering dedication to his family’s wellbeing.
