On Friday, December 13, 2024, Jeff Olson of Belgrave passed away at his home at the age of 50. Jeff will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of sixteen years, Mickey Howes, and their cherished dog, Jazzy, who brought him endless joy. He was a devoted brother to Joanne Olson & Brian Heard and Mark & Nicole Olson, and a supportive brother-in-law to Jay Payne and Cheryl Payne & Sean Garrett.
Jeff was the fun-loving and proud uncle of Jordan, Lyla, Claira, Allie, Olivia, and Julia, a caring son-in-law to Lois Lassaline and Dale Howes, and a special nephew of Doris Coultes. He is now reunited with his late parents, Neil & Ruth (Coultes) Olson, his father-in-law, Keven Ward, and his faithful dog, Thor.
Jeff’s warmth and kindness extended beyond his family, as he had a gift for making friends who became like family to him. His laughter, generosity, and big heart will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A private funeral service will be held followed by a Celebration of Jeff’s Life at the Belgrave Community Centre on Friday, January 3, 2025, from 2:00–6:00 p.m. This will be a come-and-go gathering, allowing everyone the chance to honor Jeff’s memory and share stories.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Belgrave Community Centre in Jeff’s memory would be appreciated by the family.
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Gladys Bumstead (née Shiell) on Sunday, December 1, 2024, at the age of 94, at Huronview Home for the Aged in Clinton. Formerly of Wingham, Gladys lived a long and fulfilling life dedicated to her family, friends, and community.
Beloved wife of the late Allan Bumstead, who predeceased her on October 15, 2023. Together, they shared 72 years of marriage, beginning on October 6, 1951. Loving mother of Jeff (Mary) Bumstead of Kingston and Gary Bumstead of Wingham. Cherished grandmother of Melissa (Iain Valliere) and Chris Bumstead (Courtney King), and great-grandmother of Bradley. She will be deeply missed by her niece Heidi Moore.
Predeceased by her parents Norman and Adeline Shiell, sister Anne Moore, and brother-in-law Peter Bumstead. Gladys was known for her unwavering determination, meticulous nature, and caring spirit. Her love for bookkeeping began as a teenager at Elmer Wilkinson’s Wallpaper Shoppe, and later she supported her family businesses as a bookkeeper alongside her husband and father-in-law.
A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Huronview for their compassionate care, and to Linda VanWyk and the Solace Singers for their kindness during Gladys’ final days. The family also extends gratitude to Dayna of McBurney Funeral Home for her support in difficult conditions.
A celebration of life for both Allan and Gladys Bumstead will take place in late spring of 2025. Details will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial donations to the Huronview Resident’s Council, a local food bank, or the Solace Singers.
