With heavy hearts, the family of George Alfred Spittal announces his passing on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at the age of 79. George was a long-time resident of Caistor Centre, Ontario, and will be remembered for his kind spirit and love for family.
George is survived by his son James; his brothers William of Dunnville, Ontario, and Harvey of West Kelowna, British Columbia; and his nephews Mark, Raymond, and Matthew, as well as his niece Miranda. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas George Spittal and Margaret McFarlane Atkinson, and his brother Harry.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during visitation at Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station Street, Smithville, on December 6, 2024, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
The funeral service will be held at Smithville United Church, 116 West Street, Smithville, Ontario, on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Caistor Baptist Church Cemetery.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the tragic passing of Noreen Eleanor Kleinendorst, in her 75th year, on November 25, 2024. Born in Hamilton on June 19, 1950, Noreen was a beloved sister, aunt, and friend whose warmth and faith deeply touched all who knew her.
Noreen is survived by her brother Arie, his wife Vesta, and their children Jeff, Mary (Greg), Laura (Luke), and Sarah. She was a cherished aunt to McKenna, Finley, Charles, Avery, and Miles. A devoted friend to Sue Morrison, Noreen will be remembered for her kindness, dedication, and unwavering spirit.
Predeceased by her parents Mildred (1969) and William (1998), Noreen was a faithful member of Faith Community United Church in Selkirk, where her presence will be deeply missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Faith Community United Church, Selkirk, on December 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. A private family interment will take place at a later date.
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Leonard at home on Wednesday, November 24, 2024, at the age of 59.
Leonard will be dearly missed by his children Leonard Ivan McLelland (Lindsay) and Randeane Florence McLelland (Jay). Beloved sibling to Lynn (Dan) MacDonald, Kelly (Joe) McLelland, Tim (Laura) McLelland, and Kristen (Ron) Doneff. Proud grandfather to Meya, Willow, and Baby Nora. Leonard is also remembered fondly by his nieces, nephews, and his fur babies Roscoe, Milo, Lily, and Popeye, who will greet him over the rainbow.
Predeceased by his parents Marlene (2023) and Leonard Sr. (2024), Leonard was a proud Navy veteran and continued his love for ships by working as a welder. His passion for cars and home projects was unmatched.
A celebration of Leonard’s life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations to the Fort Erie SPCA would be greatly appreciated by the family.

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of James “Jim” Waddell on November 15, 2024, at the age of 84. Jim was a loving husband, devoted friend, and skilled professional who brought humor and warmth to those around him.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Margaret Waddell. He enjoyed a fulfilling life beyond his professional career as a mechanical engineer, finding joy in golfing, skiing, and tending to his beautiful garden. Jim’s sense of humor and kindness will be missed by all who knew him.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of John Portolesi at his home in Smithville, Ontario, on November 23, 2024, at the age of 56.
John will be sorely missed by his loving wife of 21 years, Sherri, and his adoring children, Alyssa and Jake. Predeceased by his parents, Dominic and Marianna Portolesi, John was a cherished brother to Rocco Portolesi (Patricia) and Maryanne Marr (late Brian), and a beloved uncle to Michael and Ryan Portolesi. He was also a dear son-in-law to Cheryl Griese (Chris) and Doug Sims (Shirley).
For 26 years, John was a successful and respected member of the Hamilton Volkswagen sales team, with a total of 35 years in automotive sales. He was known for his passion for grilling, often creating mouthwatering meals on his Big Green Egg. Friends and family raved about his smoked ribs and perfectly grilled ribeye steaks.
Above all, John was a devoted family man whose love for his wife, children, and extended family was immeasurable. He will be deeply missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
In accordance with the family’s wishes, cremation has already taken place. The family will receive visitors at Merritt Funeral Home, 287 Station St., Smithville, Ontario, on Friday, November 29, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Interment will take place at a later date.

In loving memory of Joyce Ross, who passed away peacefully at her home in Smithville, Ontario, on Sunday, October 27, 2024.
Joyce was the beloved wife of Rodney for 63 years and a cherished mother to Hugh (Cathy Lee), Alison (Phil), Colin (Lisa), Kathleen, Naomi (Dan), Gavin (Suzanne), and Hillary (Peter). She was a loving grandmother to Dillon, Nicolas, Meagan, Carmen, Nadia, Paul (predeceased), Daniel, Nathaniel, Jordan, Matthew, Audrey, Hannah, Kristen, and Lascha, and a great-grandmother to Bentley, Peter, Luca, and Millie. Joyce is survived by her siblings Gail, Bryan (predeceased) (Sylvia), Hank (Win), and Dawn (David).
A 1958 graduate of the Lorrain School of Nursing, Joyce began her career in the operating room at Pembroke Hospital before marrying. At 45, she returned to school, updating her nursing degree and concluding her career in obstetrics at McMaster Hospital in Hamilton. Joyce was passionate about travel, visiting six continents and countless countries throughout her lifetime. She will be remembered for her spontaneous, fun-loving nature and her knack for sharing a good story over tea.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the caring PSW staff and the wonderful team at St. Elizabeth Health Care Services, with special appreciation to Barb and Marina for their exceptional support.
