Memorial plaque for Robert Bruce, 2024

Robert Bruce Beach

2024

After a short illness, in the care of Huntsville Hospice and with a friend by his side, Bob passed away in the early hours of December 14, 2024.

Predeceased by his parents, Florence and Herman (Bruce) Beach, his brother Gary, and his nephews, Bruce and Raymond. He and his first wife, Ann (deceased), had four children: Jeff, Melanie, Marcia, and Morene. His wife Greta also predeceased him. He was Uncle Bob to Shawn, Shari, William, and Kayla.

Bob will be missed by the people he surrounded himself with in the Barkway area, especially his dear friend Donna. Bob was active in the Ryde Centennial Free Methodist Church and the Ryde Community Cooperative and was well known for his love of music. His favorite instrument was his harmonica. Bob always had music with him, whether he sang, played, or just listened.

Many thanks to Marc, Dave, Dr. Whynot, and the staff at South Muskoka Hospital, as well as the Huntsville Hospice staff.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Huntsville Hospice or the Ryde Centennial Free Methodist Church would be appreciated. A memorial service will be held in January.

Memories and notes of condolence may be shared at Mitchell Funeral Home.

Roy Edward Montgomery

1939 – December 13, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Roy Edward Montgomery on Friday, December 13, 2024, at the age of 85. Roy was the beloved husband of Lynn Webb and the loving father to Matthew (Laura Davis). He cherished his three grandchildren, Cameron, Ian, and Gracen. A devoted stepfather to Lance, Marcia, and Jeff Webb, Roy’s family was at the center of his life.

Roy was born to Dorothy M. Corman and Earl L. Montgomery and grew up in Weston, Ontario, alongside his siblings Robert, Tina (deceased), and Doug. He excelled academically, earning a BA in Chemical Engineering from Waterloo. His professional career spanned several decades at Kimberly-Clark, where he held various leadership roles across Canada, the U.S., the UK, and Bahrain, retiring as Operations Manager.

A devoted golfer and barbershop singer, Roy was a proud member of the Muskoka Music Men and shared countless memories with friends and family, traveling the world and enjoying life’s adventures. In retirement, he taught high school chemistry in South Carolina, pursued his love for golf, and relished time spent with his grandchildren.

Roy faced his battle with dementia with grace, spending his final years in care at Fairvern Nursing Home in Huntsville. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the dedicated staff who cared for him with compassion.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Trinity United Church, 33 Main Street East, Huntsville.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Fairvern Nursing Home or the Alzheimer’s Society of Muskoka would be appreciated.
