It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of William James Calder, affectionately known as Jim, of Oshawa, on December 11, 2024, at the age of 77.
Born on October 12, 1947, Jim was a lifelong sports enthusiast with a deep passion for hockey and baseball. In his youth, he played Junior B level hockey as well as baseball and softball for many years, showcasing his athletic talent and love of the game.
Jim was a car hauler for over 35 years, taking great pride in his impeccable, accident-free career—a true testament to his skill and dedication.
He was a loving father to Shawn, Trina, Justin, Blair, and Brian, and a cherished brother to Dianne. Generous and loyal, Jim was deeply devoted to his family and friends both here and in Cuba, where he created countless treasured memories during his annual trips with close friends.
In accordance with Jim’s wishes, there will be no formal service. A private celebration of life will be held with immediate family in the new year.
Jim will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. Rest in peace, Jim.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the sudden passing of Jamie Bricker. Jamie was a devoted family man, a loving husband to his wife Carol, and the very proud father of Jordan (Brittany) and Ryan (Alexandra). Jamie enjoyed spending time with his sisters, Mary Anne and Laurie (Maurice), and brother, David. He was predeceased by his parents, Jim and Lucy.
For 30 years, Jamie was a teacher and administrator in a variety of schools within the Durham District School Board. He was a strong advocate for student success and created positive, supportive, and collegial school environments that focused on student learning.
Jamie was a strong believer in community activism. He was very involved in youth sports, coaching his sons in both hockey and soccer for much of their childhood. He also tutored adult learners and most recently became a driver for Meals on Wheels.
In retirement, Jamie continued to be a lifelong educator. He wrote, presented, and podcasted about topics related to teaching and learning, with a particular focus on parental advocacy in education and educational leadership.
Jamie will be dearly missed by his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to SickKids Foundation in Jamie’s memory. Donations can be made online at SickKids Foundation.

With great sadness, we announce the sudden passing of William Dan Hall on December 9, 2024. Dan passed away at his home peacefully, surrounded by family.
He is survived by his beloved wife Ethel of 56 years. Loving father of Lorri (Huibert) Vanderstarre, Joe Robinson, Steve (Michelle) Robinson, Kelly (Brady) Ibbotson, and Ken (Janet) Hall. He was cherished by 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Dan had been a resident of Orono for more than 80 years and gave back to the community as a longtime member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He was known for always having a funny story, a candy to share—earning him the nickname "the candy man"—or simply making time to listen.
Dan often talked about watching the Avro Arrow fly, his construction days building Highways 404 and 401, and his greatest passion: driving a concrete truck for many years. He will always be remembered for his big smile, his willingness to help in any way possible, and his unlimited love for family.
The Hall family would like to thank the Durham Region Police, Clarington Fire Department, and EMS responders for their care and support.

Lynn Barry Worthington "L.B." passed peacefully in his 77th year at Lakeridge Health Oshawa after a courageous battle with cancer and diabetes complications. By his side was his beloved wife and daughter, Sandra and Elise.
Lynn is predeceased by his parents Ruth (nee Thornton) and Frank Jackson Worthington. He leaves behind his loving wife Sandra, his daughter Elise, and his granddaughter Kendra. Lynn also leaves behind his siblings Laura (John) Pilby and James Worthington. Brother-in-law to Barb Worthington, Laura Pennington (Phil Knapp), and good friends Garth & Britta Knapp. Uncle to Sherry (Derrek), Paul (Mary Jane), and great uncle to Jaxon, Liam, and Kyle.
Lynn had many jobs throughout his life, but his favourite of all was Husband, Father, and Papa. Lynn adored his wife Sandra, his daughter Elise, and his granddaughter Kendra. Lynn was a very patient and caring man. Everything he did, he did for his family. He loved his boat and fishing with his dad, friends from the fishing club, and his high school buddies Ron and Sam. Lynn was so lucky to be surrounded and loved by so many.

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Claudine Tabord, in her 67th year, at St. Michael’s Hospital on December 2, 2024. Her sudden brain hemorrhage occurred while she was enjoying her latest passion—pickleball. By her side in her final moments were her husband, Sean, her son Max, and his wife Susan.
Claudine is predeceased by her parents Anna (nee Penon) and Armand Tabord of Aigle, Switzerland. Claudine leaves behind her loving husband Sean, her son Max and his wife Susan. She also leaves behind her brother Albert Tabord, his wife Judith, their daughter Alexandra, and Sean’s sister Denise.
Claudine had an adventurous path to Canada. She started out as a kindergarten teacher in Switzerland, then ventured to Canada to explore new horizons. There she met Sean and chose to stay. She opened her own shoe store and thoroughly enjoyed the challenges. Her greatest happiness came at the birth of her son Max. She will be sadly missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Newcastle Funeral Home on December 14, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, where friends and family are invited to honour Claudine’s remarkable life.

It is with much sadness and broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Jerry Robbins on November 24, 2024, at the age of 83. Jerry was the much-loved husband, best friend, and partner of Violet (Weloski) for 44 beautiful years. He is survived by his sons Jerome (Danielle), Mark, and Frank (Denise), seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and four sisters.
Known for his huge personality and even bigger heart, Jerry was always ready to help wherever needed. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A passionate hockey fan, Jerry spent many years refereeing minor hockey and men's recreational leagues. He loved hopping on his Gold Wing motorcycle to tour the countryside or simply cruise around town. Among his favorite memories were yearly trips exploring new places, including Croatia, Switzerland, Portugal, and the deeply moving experience at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary.
Jerry was an avid music lover and a fantastic dancing partner, whether waltzing in the kitchen or dazzling with his jive and boot-scootin' boogie. He enjoyed competitive games of cards, chess, or cribbage but found his greatest joy outdoors. Jerry loved golfing, walking the beach, biking trails, and tending to his hobby rescue farm. He shared a deep bond with his "sweet pea" and his beloved four-legged rescue family, now reunited with Alice, Polar, Gilmore, Budi, and Lucky.
Honoring Jerry’s wishes, there will be no formal service. Arrangements are entrusted to Newcastle Funeral Home.

Born on January 10, 1939, in Aberystwyth, Wales, to Elizabeth (Bessie) and Wilfred Stephenson, John lived an extraordinary life full of achievements and adventure. During his school years, he excelled as a swimming captain, house captain, head choirboy, and air cadet, even qualifying as a glider pilot.
John attended the University College of Wales to study law. After graduation, he served with the Welch Regiment during his National Service, seeing active combat in Yemen as a lieutenant. At the young age of 22, he was elected to Aberystwyth Borough Council. His career began in journalism at the Western Mail in Cardiff, where he also appeared on radio and television.
In February 1970, John emigrated to Canada, becoming a Canadian citizen in 1973. His Canadian career included roles at the Toronto Telegram, Toronto Sun (as night editor), and as group publisher at Maclean-Hunter. In 1973, he launched a travel magazine and opened one of the first travel agencies specializing in last-minute travel, traveling extensively and collecting many stories, including encounters with King Charles and Sophia Loren.
In 1987, John shifted to publishing medical magazines and later started Motivations International Inc., advising European tourism boards. John’s sharp memory and genuine interest in people helped him build a vast network of colleagues and friends.
In 2007, John married Rhonda (Giroux) in Cobourg, and together they enjoyed traveling to many countries, especially the Czech Republic and Portugal. In retirement, John continued his passion for history and world politics.
John will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his wife Rhonda, his son Matthew (Kristan) and grandsons Benjamin and Owen, his daughter Rhian (Richard) and granddaughters Maisie and Lola. Also mourning his loss are his dear friend Tony, family friend Val, and John and Rhonda's extended family and friends. He is predeceased by his beloved dogs, Kelsey and Jolly.

Born on December 17, 1949, to Fred and Gladys (Gyatt) Whyte in Toronto, Bev was a true matriarch whose greatest joy and achievement was her close-knit family and her role as a caregiver to all who needed her.
Bev was the deeply loved mom of Dawna and Paul Jr./Paulie (Tricia), and cherished Nana Banana to Paul James/PJ (Liz), Jessie (Steve), Dallas, and Zachary (Emily). She was the proud Great Nana to Jaeden, Abel, Rhett, Callie, and Riley. A best friend and sister to Gail and Joyce (Joe), Bev was a special aunt to Jason, Faith, and Daniel.
Predeceased by her beloved husband Paul Sr., siblings Jack, Jimmy, Neil, Dawna, and her special nephew Joshua, Bev will also be sorely missed by extended family and friends, including Kevin, Greg, many nieces and nephews, and her foster children Sherry, Harvey, Shane, and Terry. She is predeceased by her foster son Chris.
Bev will always be remembered for her warmth, humor, and love of life, embodied by the six F's she lived by: Faith, Family, Friends, Food, Fun, and Farts! Her infectious laughter and caring spirit will leave a lasting legacy.
