Larry Lambro Nicolas Gatsos

October 4, 1954 – December 22, 2024

Larry Lambro Nicolas Gatsos passed away peacefully on December 22, 2024, at the age of 70, after a valiant battle with cancer. He was known for his compassion, kindness, and love for music. A celebration of life will be held in the spring. Cremation services were entrusted to Simple Wishes of the North.

Barbara Ouellette Sanders

January 1, 2025 - January 9, 2025

In loving memory of Barbara Sanders (née Ouellette), aged 59, who passed away peacefully at hospice after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved daughter of Roland Ouellette (predeceased) and Sheila (née Riley). Loving mother to Cameron Sanders of Vancouver and cherished wife of Douglas Turgeon. Barb will be fondly remembered by her siblings, nieces, and nephew, as well as her beloved fur baby, Piper. No visitation or services as per family’s wishes. Donations to the Northeast Cancer Centre or Maison McCulloch Hospice would be appreciated.

James Verdun Wiskin

1939 - December 27, 2024

It is with sadness that the family of James Verdun Wiskin announce his passing in Espanola on Friday, December 27, 2024, at the age of 85 years. Son of the late James Wiskin Sr. and the late Evelyn Wiskin (née Molton). Husband of the late Donna Ann Wiskin (née Hamilton).

Loving father of Nancy, Karen, and Kimberley. He will also be missed and lovingly remembered by his ten grandchildren, as well as by his five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers and two sisters.

James, a.k.a Jimmy the Picker, was a music man who enjoyed playing guitar at Molly Blooms Irish Pub.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Cremation services provided by Simple Wishes of the North, Sudbury, and by Crystal Crematorium.

Alice Elise Lafrance Poulin

July 2, 1936 – December 27, 2024

In loving memory of Alice Elise Lafrance Poulin (née Lafrance), who passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024, at the age of 88. Alice was the daughter of Albert Lafrance (predeceased) and Florence Chaloux (predeceased), and the beloved wife of Edgar Poulin (predeceased). Loving mother of four sons: Richard, Danny, Mike (Colette Godin), and Rob. Cherished sister to Lorraine Ouimette, Liliane Berube, Cecile Bissaillon (predeceased), Jill McLeod (predeceased), and Norman Lafrance (predeceased). Proud grandmother and great-grandmother to nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren: Daniel, Michel, Genevieve, Janique, Ian, Les, David, Madeleine, Steven (predeceased), Bastien, and Brielle.

Alice was a source of calmness and peace to all who knew her. She radiated love, generosity, and acceptance, welcoming everyone who visited her home, including neighbors, friends, and even the local pets. Known for her wisdom and selflessness, Alice always put the needs of others first. Her passion for blueberry picking, love for nature, and keen sense of being in tune with others’ emotions made her truly special.

She often shared words of wisdom with her loved ones, such as:

• “We’re all different, and the world would be a boring place if we were all the same.”
• “Your kids and family always come first.”
• “Don’t be in such a rush; where are you going that’s so important?”
• “Save your money – you never know when times will get tough.”
• “Our animal friends can sense the kindness in you.”
• “Why do you have to buy a new one? The old one still works – stop wasting.”

As per her family’s wishes, there will be no funeral or visitation. A private family Celebration of Life will be held in the spring. Cremation services have been provided by Simple Wishes of the North, Sudbury, and Crystal Crematorium.

May Alice find peace in a place of harmony and love that resonates with her life’s values.
