Bernice Joyce Brunton (Garrison)

October 6, 1930 - November 3, 2024

Bernice Joyce Brunton (née Garrison) passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at the age of 94. Bernice was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph Brunton; her daughter, Gail Robinson; her brother, George Garrison; and her parents, Cecil and Flo Garrison. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Rob Young and Ray Young (Maureen), Carol, and Susan Brunton. Proud Nana to Wayne, Kristin (Brian), Jennah, Cole, Tania (Alex), Amy (Ed), Laura, Rylee, Connor, Stephanie, and Tavis. She was a cherished Great Nana to 15 great-grandchildren.

Bernice spent her early years in Hamilton and London before settling in Sarnia. She was a proud member of the original kickline at the SCITS High School Revue, and throughout her life, she loved dancing, curling, and golfing. Known for her vibrant spirit, she hosted memorable summer pool parties and enjoyed neighborhood gatherings and annual trips to Florida. Bernice was a loving, straightforward woman who enjoyed a laugh, a game, or a toast with her grandchildren. Her motto, “What is life, if you can’t have fun?” will remain in the hearts of her family.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Bluewater Health’s Medicine and Palliative Floors for their compassionate care of “Nan” during the past month. In keeping with Bernice’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or memorial service. A private family interment will be held.

Memorial donations in Bernice’s honor may be made to the Sarnia Humane Society or Alzheimer’s Society Sarnia-Lambton. Arrangements are entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
