Hazel Joanne Edwards-Harrington-Albion passed away peacefully at Meadow Park, London, on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at the age of 82.
Joanne leaves behind her daughter Jennifer Harrington, grandson Seth Baran, and sister Fay (Al) Rooke, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family. She is predeceased by her parents, Garnet and Hazel Edwards; her husbands, Tom Harrington (1993) and Kenneth Albion (2001); her sister Marilyn Cano (2011); and her daughter Stephanie Baran (2017).
Born in Chatham, Ontario, on October 21, 1942, Joanne graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and led a fulfilling career as a dedicated nurse and teacher of nursing until illness shortened her professional life. She channeled her strength into her family, faith, and community, leaving an indelible mark on those around her.
A long-time resident of Woodstock, Joanne was a devoted member of St. David’s United Church and contributed to numerous charitable organizations, including Diabetes Canada, the Canadian Cancer Society, and the Lions Foundation of Canada. She also raised Guide Dog puppies, exemplifying her selfless service to her community. Joanne enjoyed quilting at the Ingersoll Creative Arts Centre, forming cherished friendships and embracing her creative spirit.
In accordance with Joanne’s wishes, her body has been donated to science. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date, to be determined.
