Vera Lillian Kiloh

February 6, 1925 - December 3, 2024

Vera Lillian Kiloh of Stratford passed away peacefully on December 3rd, 2024, surrounded by her family, at the age of 99. Vera was the loving mother of David Kiloh, Ruth Traut, and Heather Simmons. She was predeceased by her husband George Kiloh (2009) as well as four sisters and three brothers.

Vera will be fondly remembered by her sister, Shirley Ratz, her five grandchildren and one great-grandchild, as well as many extended family members.

Cremation has taken place. Vera’s family will celebrate her life privately. Memorial donations in Vera’s memory can be made to Rotary Hospice Stratford or the Spruce Lodge Foundation.

Larry Clifford

August 3, 1954 - November 29, 2024

Lawrence Daniel Joseph Clifford, affectionately known as Larry, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 29, 2024, at the age of 70. Born in St. Marys, Ontario, Larry was the son of the late Jack and Jesse (Bruder) Clifford. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 37 years, Judith (Whitham), and his loving sons, Robert and Jason (Krista). He was the proud grandfather of Brianna and Avery.

He will be deeply missed by his siblings, Thomas (Heather), Gerald, John (Kim), Marie Goring (Tom), Patricia Cowsert, Rita Hoogenes, Theresa Noble (Doug), and Jean Clifford (Ira), as well as his sister-in-law Elizabeth Clifford, brother-in-law Lyle Whitham (Leanna), and numerous nieces and nephews. Larry is predeceased by his brothers Robert and Joseph Clifford, sister-in-law Kathleen Poole (Derek), and nephew Dirk Poole.

Larry graduated from Sault Ste. Marie College in Forestry and worked at TB Woods for many years. In retirement, he found fulfillment volunteering with the Spruce Lodge Swim Program and driving for St. John’s Preschool and the local Cancer Association. He was a man of faith, with Avondale United Church being his final spiritual home.

A celebration of Larry’s life will take place in the spring of 2025, followed by interment in Avondale Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Terry Fox Foundation through the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford (519.271.7411). January 4, 1927 – November 28, 2024

Verna Mabel Ebel passed away peacefully at Hillside Manor on November 28, 2024, at the age of 97, with her daughter Terry by her side. Born in Stratford, Ontario, to parents August Schultz and Edna Becker, Verna was the last surviving member of her siblings, Pearl Forbes, Dorothy Holt, Alvin Schultz, and Charles Schultz.

Verna was predeceased by her husband Roy in 1979, her partner Alfred Brown in 1979, her daughter Sandra Schippling in 2019, and her sons-in-law Barry Schippling and Gerald Lantz in 2015. She leaves behind her beloved daughter Terry, grandsons Chad Lantz, Jason Lantz, Cory Petrie, and Paul Petrie, as well as seven cherished great-grandchildren. Verna will forever hold a special place in the hearts of her family.

At Verna’s request, a private family interment will take place, and there will be no formal funeral or visitation. Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society or a charity of your choice.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful staff at Hillside Manor for their exceptional care and kindness shown to Verna during her time there.

Terrence Michael McClean

February 26, 1935 - November 26, 2024

Terrence Michael McClean passed away peacefully at Stratford General Hospital on November 26, 2024, at the age of 89. Born and raised in Stratford, Ontario, Terrence was the beloved son of the late George and Sarah (Hamel) McClean. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Helen (Teahen) in 2004, and his siblings John, Vincent, Leo, Cecelia, Eileen, and Mary.

Terrence leaves behind his daughters, Kim (Don) and Karen (Sylvain), and was a proud and devoted papa to Melanie (Rob), Jeremy (Natalie), Sarah (Wes), Sammy (Trav), and James (Izzy). He was also a cherished great-grandfather to Wesley, Abby, Isabelle, Freddie, Heath, and Hugh. Terrence was a pillar of love and support for his family, and his presence will be sorely missed.

A dedicated educator, Terrence devoted many years to his career with the Perth County Board of Education. In retirement, he became a valued volunteer at Stratford General Hospital, finding immense joy in helping others. Known for his vibrant spirit, positivity, and artistic flair, Terrence had a unique ability to bring joy to every occasion and make everyone feel special.

Visitation for family and friends will take place at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford, on Friday, November 29, 2024, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. and 6:00–8:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church, 96 Huron Street, Stratford, on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., with a reception to follow.

October 5, 1952 – November 24, 2024

Dennis Oscar Meyer, age 72, of Amulree, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Rotary Hospice, Stratford, on November 24, 2024. Born in Kitchener, Dennis was the cherished son of the late Anthony and Cecilia (Kuntz) Meyer.

Beloved husband for 49 years to Dagmar (Egli), Dennis was the devoted father of Corrie Norris (Dave), Joe Meyer (Nikki), and Amanda Crawford (Scott). He was a proud and loving "Papa" to his granddaughters Isabella and Hannah Norris, Lilly and Mya Meyer, and Cruz and Vaughn Crawford.

Dennis is fondly remembered by his siblings Bill Meyer (Judy), Cecilia Benki (Fred), MaryAnn Giesen (Tony), Anita Rickert (Armand), Betty Rolt, Paul Meyer (Walli), John Meyer (Joan), Jean Kittel (Brian), and Luke Meyer. He was also a dear brother-in-law to Myrta Dietrich, Bruno Egli (Deb), and Monica Todd (Brian). Predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law Hans Sr. and Agnes Egli, Dennis will also be missed by his extended family, including nieces, nephews, and many close friends.

Dennis worked as a mechanic and had a 29-year career with the City of Kitchener. His hobbies included woodworking, wine making, and restoring his cherished 1942 Chevy truck. His passion for tinkering and creating filled his garage with countless projects, and his love for life was evident in everything he did.

Allen Glenn Drown

February 28, 1943 - November 17, 2024

Surrounded by his loving family, Allen Glenn Drown, age 81, of Stratford, peacefully left this world to be with his Lord and Saviour on November 17, 2024. Allen was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, whose life was filled with love, faith, and service to others.

Born in Stratford in 1943 to the late Harvey and Irene (Lease) Drown, Allen married his best friend and the love of his life, Barbara (Comley), on November 10, 1962. Together, they shared 62 wonderful years of marriage. He was a loving father to Donald (Michelle), Mark, and Mary, and a cherished grandfather to Kody (Amanda), Tyler (Carlie), Brandon (Jordan), Jennifer, Sean, Crystal (Jesse), and Katelyn (Marcel). Allen was a proud great-grandfather to Aliyah and Olivia.

Allen is survived by his sister-in-law Joan Taylor-Eaton, brother-in-law Albert Comley (Sue), and Mary-Lou Drown. He will be fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Predeceased by his brother Larry, father-in-law and mother-in-law Bert and Lena Comley, brothers-in-law Donald Comley, Alvin Taylor, Glen Eaton, and son-in-law Brian Mielke, Allen now rests in eternal peace.

Allen was a dedicated member of Memorial Baptist Church, which he helped to build and maintain. A lifelong volunteer, he touched countless lives through his generosity and willingness to help others. Allen was an active coach for hockey and ringette in Stratford for many years and enjoyed spending time watching his grandchildren participate in sports, camping, and traveling with his family. He retired from FAG (Schaeffler) Bearings in 2008 after a fulfilling career.

Visitation will be held at W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford, on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will take place at Memorial Baptist Church, 113 Bruce Street, Stratford, on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., followed by interment at Avondale Cemetery.

The family extends their gratitude to Dr. House and the Kidney Transplant Unit at LHSC and the staff of the Stratford General Hospital Dialysis Unit for their care and compassion.

Allen will be remembered as a man of faith, dedication, and love, who left a lasting legacy in the lives of all who knew him.
