SHYMKO, Helen Georgina - Early in the morning on Saturday, September 28, 2019, Georgina Shymko, loving wife and mother of two children, passed away in her sleep at the age of 77.

Georgina was born on January 28, 1942 in Saint John, New Brunswick to Audrey and James Green.

She married Harry Shymko on May 2, 1964, and together raised a family in New Brunswick, Alberta and Ontario that included their two children, Naomi and John, and numerous adopted animals.

Marta was born in a small village in Slovakia and immigrated to Hamilton with her husband and daughter via a refugee camp in Germany following communist persecution. She devoted her life to her husband and daughter, her grandchildren, and later her great-grandchildren.

She was the quintessential loving and gentle mother to all her family.  Her beloved husband of 59 years, John Hlatky, predeceased her in 2002.

Rose and Bob immigrated to Canada from Scotland in 1951. After raising her children, she began her career as a salesperson, first selling advertising for the Burlington Post newspaper before becoming one of the few female sales associates in the flooring industry.
