Carter JohnCARTER, John Frederick - (1942 - 2019) - On October 29th, 2019, following a bountiful life, John Carter of Georgetown, Ontario and Naples, Florida has passed away. 

A graduate of Ridley College and the HBA programme of Western University (class of 1965). In his professional life he was most proud of his years as the Treasurer of Monsanto Canada where his financial wizardry led to Treasury providing a profit contribution in a couple of years rivalling that of the larger business.

John could be a blithe spirit who also understood the importance of being earnest, both on the boards and on the board with the Georgetown Little Theatre.  John took particular pride in helping to lead the rebuilding efforts after a terrible fire destroyed their rehearsal space.  He also took great joy in performances with the Naples Players.

Poschmann ErlaPOSCHMANN, Erla (nee Samuelsson) - Erla Poschmann (nee Samuelsson), aged 88 of Oakville, Ontario passed away peacefully on October 29, 2019. Erla had been stoically battling with Alzheimer’s for many years.

Erla was born on January 23, 1931 in Copenhagen, Denmark, and spent her school years both in Iceland – her home country – and Denmark.

She met Jorgen Poschmann in 1950 while skiing in Iceland and in 1951 she followed him to the US where he was apprenticing as a ceramics engineer. They married on October 27, 1951 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, and came to Oakville two years later where they raised six children (as well as many pet dogs and cats).

Lieutenant Commander Todd served in the Royal Canadian Navy (Reserve) and in the Primary Reserve. Fred served on HMCS Star, later volunteering on the HMCS Haida restoration and HMCS Star. Fred also was an active volunteer with the R.C.S.C.C. Lion Old Buoys.

He received a B.A. Degree from McMaster University in 1954 and his principal employment was with Canada Employment.
