SHAND, Fitzgerald 'Fitz' - Passed in peace on Friday October 4th, 2019 at the age of 58.
Fitzgerald Shand was born on September 5th, 1961 to Fritz and Anah Shand.
He graduated from Applewood Heights Secondary School while also working at Canada Post – Gateway Mississauga (where he worked for 35 years). Through hard work and dedication Fitz was able to take early retirement at the age of 55.
Fitz was honorable, dependable, humorous, and also very loving and giving. Anyone who knew Fitz knew he never travelled without his dominos ready to give anybody “6 love.” We know he is looking down on us, and we truly believe he knows just how loved he really was. And how many lives he touched.
To our family and friends. Luke 1:37 says, “For with God, nothing shall be impossible.” If we as a family can put our trust in God, we can and will get through anything. While on the ride called life, you have to take the good with the bad, smile when you are sad, love what you’ve got and remember what you had. Life is a lot shorter than any of us realize and you don’t know what you have until it’s gone.
Fitz is survived by his two sons, Nemiah and Jesiah, Glenda his wife of 27 years, Mother Anah, his siblings May, Winston, Lorna, Steve, and Larry, numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
Fitz will be fondly remembered as a doting father and husband, loving son, dependable brother and cherished friend.
Visitation will take place at Glen Oaks funeral home, 3164 Ninth Line, Oakville on October 25th from 6 - 9pm. A celebration of Fitz life will be held at the funeral home on Saturday October 26th, with Pastor Peter Manning presiding.
