HILL, Marcia (nee Morton) - Passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on Wednesday, August 1st, 2018 in her 63rd year.

Devoted wife of Charles Hill.  Loving mother of Erika (James) and Matthew.  Cherished grandmother of Andrew, Ayden, Aaryn and Kash.  

Deeply missed by sister Patty and her step-father Walter.  Predeceased by her mother Shirley.  She will be deeply missed by her best friend Linda. 

Marcia worked at Paris Taxi for over 15 years and will be deeply missed by all those who knew her. 

Friends will be received at Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, Brantford, on Saturday, August 11, 2018, 10:00 am - 11:00 am.  A memorial service will follow in the chapel at 11:00 am. Cremation has taken place. 

Donations to the Diabetes Assocation or the Lung Association would be appreciated.

Carobelli FrancoCAROBELLI, Franco Joe - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of Franco, surrounded by his loving family at the Hamilton General Hospital on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 in his 84th year.

Beloved and devoted husband of the late Angela (nee Fortino) for 53 years. Loving Father of Mike and Lucy, Enzo and Gabriella and Frank and Elisa. Adoring Nonno of Nicole, Melissa, Matthew, Daniel, Mia and Alexa.

Dear brother and brother-in-law of Mario and Elena Carobelli, Gina and the late Luigi Carobelli, Giuseppe and the late Nella Barone, the late Maria and Stan Filice, Gina and the late Umberto Spagnuolo, Pileria and the late John Fortino and Ada and the late Armando Caruso. Franco will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Franco was a strong, selfless man, his garden was his passion and it gave him pleasure to share the fruits of his labour with his family, friends and neighbours. Franco's family was everything to him. He had an undying love for his wife Angela, and his grandchildren gave him the utmost joy. Franco leaves behind a legacy of love and loyalty to his family.

As a partner in Fortino's Supermarkets, Franco's strong work ethic left an indelible mark on his family, partners, employees, and his customers.

Resting at Friscolanti Funeral Chapel on Thursday, August 2, from 6-9 p.m. and Friday, August 3, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Vigil prayers on Friday 8:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Margaret Mary Church, 20 Idlewood Ave, Hamilton, on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. Entombment to follow.

Simpson MarySIMPSON, Mary (Vanexem) - Peacefully surrounded by her loving birds, at the Brantford General Hospital on Tuesday July 31, 2018. Mary (nee Vanexem) in her 59th year. 

Beloved Wife of the late Doug Simpson (2018) for 38 years.  Loving Mommy Bird of Jenny (Justin) Stone, Jamie (Nicole), Jessica (Gary). Cherished grandma of Ragine, Tanner and soon to come baby Simpson. 

Dear Daughter of Andrew & the late Paula Vanexem. Mary will be fondly remembered by her brothers, sisters, family & friends and her boys Bee & Bear.

Friends will be received at the Keith Ovington Funeral Home, Burford, on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday August 8, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.

Simatic MaricaSIMATIC, Marica - It is with deep sadness to announce that Mary passed away at St. Peter’s Hospital on Tuesday, July 31st, 2018 at the age of 80.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Vlado “Walter” (2010). Cherished Mama of Maryann Simatic and Joanne Robinson. Proud Baba of Joey, Jesse, Julia and Lucas.

Mary was an extremely giving and caring lady who always put her Family before herself. She will be remembered for the kindness and unconditional love she gave to others, especially her Precious grandchildren.

Gibson KatherineGIBSON, Katherine Kristine “Kathi”  - Entered into rest surrounded by the love of her family at Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice in Hamilton on Tuesday, July 31, 2018.

Kathi (nee Puscher) was the beloved wife and soul mate of Ed Gibson.

Proud Mom of Natasha (Paul Dubord), Chelsie Gibson (Erik Hayes) and Baillie Gibson. Devoted Nanny of Keeghan, Mila, and Aria. Oldest sister of Timothy and Marcus.

Dear daughter of Heidi (Ron Woodhouse). Sadly missed by her sister-in-law Judy Harris and her daughter Shannon, mother-in-law Joan Sabine and father-in-law Ralph Gibson. Forever remembered by relatives and friends.

Kathi will also be missed by her Friends at Remax Escarpment, the Unicorns, and all of the Knight's Beach Family. She would say, "let the real Shenanigans Begin".

Kathi’s infectious laugh and smile will forever fill our hearts with warmth. She loved her family and friends; making memories at her Happy Place. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren; baking, and traveling on many adventures. Kathi was our world, meaning so very much to each of us and we will miss her beyond measure.

In keeping with Kathi’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A gathering to celebrate her life will be held at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, Hamilton, on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until the service in the chapel at 3:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice would be appreciated.

Commisso JoeCOMMISSO, Joe - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joe Commisso Sr, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday July 31st, 2018, at Humber River Hospital.

Joe was in his 78th year and will be survived by his loving wife of 46 years Antoinette (nee Cottone), sons David, Mark and Joe, grandchildren Christian, Luca, Declan and Raine, in-laws Patti and Sam Schillaci, daughters-in-law Lindsey, Jaime and Ali.

He will be joining his late brother Frank Commisso and is survived by siblings Mary Commisso, Sarah and Jim Costa, Cosimo and Pina Commisso, Nick and Rosetta Commisso, Mary and Cosimo Figliomeni and Jim and Rosanna Commisso, in addition to a long list of nieces, nephews, friends, and family who adored Joe.

He was a Hair Stylist in the Hamilton area since 1967, working at Terminal Towers, Burlington Mall, and Salon Dior. He took immense pride in watching his sons and grandchildren grow throughout the years. Joe was an avid sports fan, lover of golf and will be missed walking the fairways of Willow Valley Golf and Country Club.

His family will watch with great admiration as his beloved garden continues to grow throughout the summer and into eternity with Joe.

Visitation will be at Bay Gardens Funeral Home “William J. Markey Chapel”, Hamilton on Friday August 3rd from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. and from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Vigil Prayers at 2:30. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Ann’s Parish, 11 Wilson St. W. Ancaster (at Fiddlers Green Rd.) on Saturday August 4th at 10:30 a.m. followed by entombment.

Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.

ECKER, Irene Ella - passed away peacefully on Tuesday July 31, 2018 in Hamilton Ontario.

Irene is reunited with her parents Paul & Ella Dobrindt and siblings Dorothy, Bruce Dobrindt and Lois (Fred) Gee.

Loving sister of Lorne Dobrindt. Cherished aunt of Kim Hauser, Wesley (Christine) Gee, Lorraine (David) Large and Paul (Rhonda) Gee. Great aunt to Nicholas and Lindsay Hauser, Alexandra, Emelie, Jason Gee, Megan, Matthew Large and Sabrina Gee. Cousin of Paul (Hilda) McLean and family. She will be greatly missed by extended family and friends.

A visitation for Irene will be held Thursday, August 2, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Cresmount Funeral Home - Fennell Chapel, Hamilton. A funeral service will occur Friday, August 3, 2018 from 10:00 AM at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 1054 Upper Sherman, Hamilton, ON L8V3N5. Followed by interment.

Ferreira RodrigoFERREIRA, Rodrigo Antonio - With broken hearts we announce the sudden passing of Rodrigo on July 30, 2018 at the age of 50 years.

He will be deeply missed by his wife Timea, his children Aurelio and Allysa, sisters Maria and Ines, brother Claudio, nieces and nephews Colleen, Steven, Selena and Jonathan. He will also be missed by his aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Rodrigo is now reunited with his parents Maria and Antonio.

RUSHTON, Father Christopher Paul, OMI -  Died peacefully on July 30th, 2018, surrounded by saddened members of his religious community, the Oblates of Mary Immaculate.

Predeceased by his parents, Louis and Eileen Rushton, and two brothers, Norman and Brian, he is mourned by his remaining brother, Pat (Joan) of Almonte, ON, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Father Chris joined the Oblates in 1966 and pronounced his Final Vows at Holy Rosary Scholasticate in Ottawa on September 7, 1970. He was ordained Priest on September 29, 1973. In 1974 he completed his education degree in London, ON, and taught at Labrador City Collegiate from 1975-1982.

His assignment to serve the Innu community in Sheshatshits, Labrador, began a long and happy part of his life! He ministered in Labrador on and off for over 30 years! He served the Oblate community in many capacities over the years, being appointed Provincial Superior from 1996-2002. More recently he was Chaplain to the Grey Sisters of the Immaculate Conception in Pembroke, ON, and finally Chaplain in Vancouver College until his illness in 2016.

He moved to Hamilton, ON, in August 2016, where he was cared for at the Juravinski Cancer Centre, and subsequently at the Good Shepherd Ministry’s Emmanuel Hospice, where he constantly praised their professional and dedicated kindness.

All who were blessed to have known Fr. Chris were touched by his kindness and his sense of goodness. He loved to tell stories and see the brighter side of life, full of boundless energy and joyous enthusiasm. His life was one filled with gentleness, grace and blessing! He will be missed by many people whose lives he touched profoundly.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to DeMazenod Door Outreach Ministry (c/o St. Patrick Parish, 440 King Street East, Hamilton, ON, L8N 1C6,) or Emmanuel House, (90 Stinson Street, Hamilton, ON, L8N 1S2.)

He will be waked at St. Patrick’s Church, 440 King Street East, Hamilton, on Friday, August 3rd, 2018 from 7 to 9:00 p.m., with prayers being offered at 8:30. His remains will then be transferred to Holy Canadian Martyrs Parish, Ottawa, for Vigil and prayers at 7p.m. Monday Evening, and Mass of Resurrection, on Tuesday, August 7 th at 11 a.m., with burial to take place at 2 p.m. at St Theresa’s Oblate Cemetery in Arnprior, ON.

May he receive the reward due a good and faithful servant!.
