MOLNAR, Helen (nee MIKO) - February 23, 1923 - October 16, 2021
Helen gracefully left this world at Maple Grove Care Community in Brampton in her 99th year, lucid and resolute until the end.
She was born in the little town of Tornyospalca in northeastern Hungary to Louis Miko and Amelia Kosa in 1923.
Sister to Henry, Stephen, Bill, Margaret, and Elizabeth, all predeceased.
The family immigrated to Canada in 1929 in search of a better life and settled in downtown Toronto.
Helen was very proud to be a graduate of Central Technical School.
She was the oldest returning alumnus at the school's 100th reunion in 2015.
In 1944 Helen married the love of her life, Gordon, deceased 2016.
They enjoyed 72 years of a full life together, enriched by the deep love of family and friends. Helen was a remarkably strong, capable, astute, and generous person.
She was a very social person, making lifelong friends of neighbours wherever she lived. And she loved a good party.
Their 50th Wedding Anniversary and her 90th Birthday parties were memorable celebrations.
Helen will be lovingly remembered by her children Gordon (Pat), Elaine (Jim) and Les (Jeanette).
Predeceased by daughter Barbara. Adored grandmother of Gordon (Amie), Andrew, James (Marcia), Catherine (Brad), Suzanne (Travis) and Jordan (Natalie).
Loved by her great-grandchildren Jakob, Hannah, Andrew, John, Raeleigh, Hudson, Cameron, Gordon, Stanley, and Emma. Sister-in-law to Jim (Lorraine) Molnar, and Gil (John) Nigrini, both deceased.
Affectionately remembered by her many nieces and nephews.
Special thank you to the staff at Maple Grove Care Community for the excellent care she received in the final chapter of her life.
Heartfelt thanks to Onyi, her personal caregiver, for her dedication. Helen's final act of generosity was to donate her body to the University of Toronto School of Medicine.
As per her wish there will be no funeral. As a child in 1930s Toronto, Helen - and her family - received much help and support from the Scott Mission.
Any donation to this worthwhile cause would be greatly appreciated at scottmission.com.
