Ted will also be missed by his extended family, dear friends and wonderful neighbours.
Ted started with “the Boys Group” at General Motors when he was just 16 years old, and then took a pipe-fitting apprenticeship as he was allowed time off to play baseball.
Ted played for several winning teams over the years and his McCallum Transport A Team was inducted into in the Oshawa Sport’s Hall of Fame for their exceptional stats. He also holds the Right Fielder position for the Oshawa Legionaire’s ALL DECADE team of the 1950’s. His career culminated with the Oshawa Merchants.
Fittingly, he also met his future wife Edna while practicing in Alexandra Park. Ted remained active in many sports after marriage. He umpired baseball, played hockey, golf and had been a long-time member of the Oshawa (Kirby) Ski Club and Oshawa Curling Club.
He retired a proud employee of GM as a Construction/Maintenance Foreman after 42 years of service. In his retirement he enjoyed many years at the cottage, with family and friends on Beech Lake in Canarvon. He loved nothing more than to help others with his handyman skills and continued to do so right up until the last several months of his life.
In accordance with Ted’s wishes cremation has taken place.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 8, upstairs at the Oshawa Curling Club, located at 226 Bond Street, from 1-4 pm.
