He will be lovingly remembered by his parents John and Sydney, his brother, Derek, and family members. Matthew will also be remembered by his friends, including his community at Craigleith Ski Club and Lake of Bays, where he spent many happy winters and summers.
Matthew had many skills. He was an accomplished skier and coached skiing both at Craigleith and Whistler.
He was also a lifeguard, sailor, water skier, canoe tripper, skateboarder and camper. Matthew was a founding member and served as the Chair of the Toronto Alliance to End Homelessness Lived Experience and was an active and engaged leader in the housing and homelessness sector.
A memorial service will be held at Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre, 375 Mount Pleasant Road, Toronto, M4T 2V8. In lieu of flowers, Matthew's family encourages donations be made to Toronto Western Hospital's Rapid Access Addiction Medical Clinic
