MACLEAN, Joan (Ashby) - Passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 13, 2018 in her 89th year.

Mother of David, John (Linda) and Tim (Sue).

Married for 55 years to the late Bill MacLean.

Grandmother of Ben, Taylor, Andrew, Maddie, Courtney, and Steven.

Joan was born in Montreal on February 8, 1930 the daughter of Reginald and Beatrice (Roper) Ashby.

She is survived by her two younger brothers, Michael (Barbara) and David (Christy), and seven nieces and nephews.

Joan was a proud graduate of Macdonald College (class of ’53). She worked as a dietitian until marrying Bill and staying at home to raise her family. A resident of North Toronto since 1965, she had a wide circle of friends, was a voracious reader, and enjoyed cycling, cross-country skiing, playing tennis, and volunteering within the community. She also traveled extensively in Canada, the U.S. and Europe, and enjoyed many cruises.

The family would like to invite friends and neighbours to a reception in Joan’s honour on Saturday, November 3rd from 1-3 p.m. at Morley Bedford Funeral Home, Toronto.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the CNIB Foundation or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
