CARR, John Alexander Carr   - January 28th, 1934   December 25th, 2020

John chose Christmas Day to be together again with his loving wife, Beth.

Family and friends will miss his strength and generosity.

We always knew he “had our back”.

He will be deeply missed by his children: Marie (Rob), Kirk, and Rina; his grandchildren: James, Melissa (Ed), Dillon, Justin, Evan, Brayden, Logan, and Liam; his brother Ray and Ray’s wife Pearl; and his dear friends: Marilyn Raw, Maurice and Gail Webster, and Helen and Harry Horrocks.

John was born in England but chose to be a Canadian citizen and to make the community of Orono his home.

He spent most of his working life with Consumers’ Gas, retiring in 1996. John was an avid hockey fan and gardener. Many local gardens are graced with plants that he started from seed. He played both pool and poker for fun and if you played against him you soon learned that his definition of “fun” was “winning”.

Those of you who knew John’s way of telling a story will understand when we say, “We are all thankful that his was a long story that was not cut short”.

A donation in his honour to one of the following organizations would be greatly appreciated: Distress Centre Durham (where he and Beth both volunteered), Orono Athletic Association, Community Care Durham – Clarington Lakeridge Health Bowmanville Complex Continuing Care
