Maurice (Mike) Johnston

1927 - 2024

Maurice "Mike" Johnston, at the age of 97 and a half years, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 4th, 2024, at Norfolk General Hospital after a brief illness. Mike was the youngest and last surviving member of eight siblings, born in Bertie Township, Ontario, to Salathiel and Margaret Johnston.

Mike is survived by his devoted wife of 27 years, Diana, his son Daniel Johnston (Beverly), and daughter Linda Johnston, both born of his first wife, Fern (now deceased). He is also survived by his stepchildren, Darlene Sims (David), Andrea Plato (Rick), Jackie Timperley (Jason), Dale Van Der Kraan, Heidi Vail (Brian), and Melinda Zanchin (Dean). Mike’s "quiver was full" with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Mike’s career spanned 38 years at Consumers Gas, where he built lifelong relationships. His passion for woodworking resulted in cherished creations for his loved ones. His faith and love for his family were the cornerstones of his life.

Family and friends will be received at The Mission Church, 1156 Norfolk Co. Rd. 28, Langton, ON, on Wednesday, December 11th, 2024, from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel.
