Smiling bearded man with gray hairGerald (Jake) Richard LETHBRIDGE - February 6, 1954 – September 21, 2024

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the peaceful passing of Gerald (Jerry) (Jake) Lethbridge, at the age of Seventy, on Saturday September 21, 2024, at Victoria Manor in Lindsay, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born in Come By Chance, Newfoundland, on February 6th, 1954 as the eldest son to Roy Lethbridge and Ruby (Seaward) Lethbridge. Jake was the first born, and loving older brother to his four siblings, Gary Lethbridge, Robert Lethbridge, Michelle (Lethbridge) Egerton, and Perry Lethbridge. Jake moved to Toronto, from Newfoundland in 1968, with his family and is where he met his lifelong best friend, Mike Silver, then in 1973 met his beloved wife, Elayne Hanna.

Jake built a wonderful life full of love and adventures with his wife, Elayne, who feels truly blessed to have shared fifty-one loving years, building a beautiful family together. They spent their early years in Toronto, forging life long friendships, and making beautiful memories. They moved their family to the Durham Region where they enjoyed most of their time together, but decided that Carnarvon was the right place for them, and purchased their dream home on Mirror Lake. Jakes dream of walking out his back door and jumping right into the lake had come true.

Jake was a devoted father, and a proud grandfather. Cherished and deeply loved by his son Christopher Lethbridge, and his daughter Jennifer Lethbridge. Adored by his grandson Brandon Lethbridge. He will be lovingly remembered.

Jake was an avid outdoors man, He treasured his many camping adventures with family and friends, recounting stories and memories of each trip. Jakes true passion was fishing. He revered his time on his boat, and was always willing to stop at a passing lake to cast his line. Jake was an athletic man who enjoyed swimming, and was lightning on ice. He took great pride in coaching his son's hockey team, as well as his time playing baseball and golf. Jake liked to play cards with his friends, and had a love for music, oh how he danced.

Jake truly led his life by love, accepting us all as we are. He will be greatly missed, and always remembered.

In accordance with Jake’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 152 (56 Baldwin St, Brooklin L1M 1A3). With an additional service planned in Newfoundland, at a later date.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, PSWs, and staff at Victoria Manor for his exceptional care.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that a donation be made in Jake’s memory to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.

Those we love we never lose,
 For always they will be,
Loved, remembered, treasured,
Always in our memory.
