ROCHEMONT, Lydia (nee STEVENSON) - Lydia was born August 27, 1929 in Montréal, Quebec, and passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on December 20, 2023 in Guelph, Ontario.
Lydia always seemed to be on the go, whether it was working, attending classes or volunteering.
She rejoined the work force at 50 out of necessity and almost immediately started attending classes to attain the next level at work and because, as she always said "I love learning new things." She volunteered in many different areas over the years and was most recently "helping out the old folks at the centre."
Lydia was predeceased by Charles Rochemont; son, David Rochemont; and grandson, Bryan Fowler.
She is survived by children: Debbie (Bobby) Miller, Janet Rochemont and Brent (Judy) Rochemont; grandchildren: Kevin (Lieu) Barrow, Jonathan Rochemont, Selena Rochemont, Michael (Ashley) Chlebo, Andrew (Jenna) Chlebo, Samantha (Ken) Russell, Daniel (Cassidy) Rochemont; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Rochemont; Krystal Fowler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A heartfelt thank you to Dirk Kunst, Mary and Joe Savoie, Joffre Silva and Michael Harper for their love and support of mom during her life and the hospital visits towards the end.
The family would like to thank the staff at Guelph General Hospital, 4West, specifically Dr. Al-Aubodah (Dr. Al) and nurses, Kayla and Marc, for the tireless work ethic and care they provided.
A Celebration of Life will be hosted by the family in the spring of 2024.
