MORTON, Martha Jean - Martha died unexpectedly but peacefully at her residence on Saturday, March 9, 2024.
Born in Toronto to Bill and Marion Morton in 1941, Martha was the sister of Colleen Morton Bone (Donald Bone, deceased 2023), Alice Morton, and Mary Morton (deceased 1994), Aunt of Martyn (Sue) and Kristy Bone, Great-Aunt of Oscar and Malcolm Bone, and loving companion of Angus Willar.
A graduate of the Toronto General Hospital School of Nursing in 1963, Martha was a dedicated and gifted nurse, serving in various positions in Toronto hospitals including the former Scarborough Grace Hospital, Toronto General Hospital, Wellesley Hospital, and eventually as a nursing administrator at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in its early years.
Always interested in learning and open to new challenges, Martha returned to school to earn her Bachelor of Social Work, and added these skills to her distinguished nursing experience to work with the elderly and their families within Extendicare.
Upon retirement, Martha relocated to Bath, Ontario, where she forged many new friendships, embraced her lifelong enjoyment of knitting, and undertook several volunteer endeavours.
During this time, she met Angus Willar and his family, and Martha and Angus remained devoted partners for many happy years.
Visitation will be held at Marshall Funeral Home, Richmond Hill on Thursday, March 28th from 1 to 2 p.m. A funeral service will take place in the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m. Interment to take place in the Spring at Christ Church Anglican Cemetery, Holland Landing.
