It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jo-Ann Ackerland who left us peacefully on August 9, 2025. Jo-Ann was the beloved wife of Murray Ackerland and a devoted mother to her cherished daughter Erika Benvenuti (Shawn). The joy of her life were her grandsons Wyatt, Nolan, and Waylon who brought her endless happiness.
Jo-Ann is predeceased by her parents Bernard Etmanski and Noella Etmanski (née Truchon). She is survived by her siblings Debra Etmanski-Simpson, Timothy (Jo-Anne), Gail Etmanski-Shank (Gilles), Wayne Etmanski, Glen Etmanski, and Karen Lacourciere (Shane).
Jo-Ann was known for her energetic spirit and infectious laugh. She would illuminate every room she entered, and her happiness was truly contagious. Jo-Ann would spread joy to all those who knew her. She touched the lives of many with her warmth and kindness leaving behind beautiful memories that will be treasured forever. Her loving spirit will be missed and cherished by her family and friends.
Funeral arrangements in care of the Theoret-Bourgeois Funeral Home and Crystal Crematorium, Sturgeon Falls.
A funeral service will be held at the Kipling Baptist Church on Saturday August 23, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. and a celebration of Jo-Ann’s life will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at the Warren Golden Age Hall at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in memory of Jo-Ann to the Nipissing Serenity Hospice, North Bay or the Kipling Baptist Church.
