She was one of  the founding members of the  Suomi  Club and over a period of time  became the “unofficial” English spokesperson for many members of the local Finnish community.

She was also a dedicated and committed member of St John’s Lutheran Church. She was dedicated volunteer for the betterment of her church and Finnish community. Her general rule of life was based on scripture from the Bible (Matthew 6) and can be stated in general terms as follows: “pay attention to what God is doing now and don’t get overly concerned about what may or may not happen tomorrow for he will help you in his own way deal with   issues when the time comes “That passage was simple and direct.”Do not worry about the day you have not seen.”

Her legacy is both significant and praise worthy! The kindness she consistently demonstrated with her fellow citizens; the friendship she offered and instilled in everybody; the advice she volunteered when requested and the unconditional love she gave all family members no matter what their circumstances, made her  a truly  admirable human being throughout her lifetime.

Special thanks to the Nurses of the Medical floor of Timmins and District Hospital  and, her highly esteemed and revered medical practitioners, Doctor  Richard (Rick)  Kvas and Dr. Yates  who  went above and beyond the call of duty in  responding  to her medical needs at all times.
