Peacefully on Sunday, November 9 th , 2025, surrounded by her loving family at the Juravinski hospital, in her 93 rd year, Maria passed away. Cherished wife of the late William for 45 years. Predeceased by her parents, Simplicio and Agnese D’Alessandro. Dearest and most devoted mother of Enza (Mo), Adriano (Josie). Very loving and most proud Nonna of her cherished grandchildren William (Kirstyn), Joseph and Julia.
She will always be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by all her family in Italy. Dearest sister and sister-in-law of the late Tomassino and Gina D’Alessandro, Licia and the late Nino D’Alessandro, the late Linda and Nello DiBenedetto, Antonio and the late Anita Catania, Sara and the late Vincenzo D’Alessandro. She will be lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, close friends and compari in Italy and Canada.
Maria moved to Canada from her beloved hometown of Paterno, Abruzzo which always remained firmly etched in her heart and memory. In Canada, she built a loving home with her husband William, which was always full of love, laughter, friendship and delicious cooking. She had a remarkable gift for memorizing and reciting Italian poetry and loved to tell jokes and stories when gathered with her friends and family. Maria was a talented seamstress who created beautiful clothes for herself, her daughter, friends and others who appreciated her work. She enjoyed many road trips with her friends and family to the casino in Niagara Falls.
Her family would like to extend sincere thanks to Dr. Brian Leber and Dr. Tobias Berg of Juravinski Cancer Center and her doctor of many years, Dr. Rossano Allega. They would also like to thank the nurses and support staff of Juravinski Cancer Center and Juravinski Hospital as well as the nurses of St. Joseph’s Homecare, especially her caring PSW Shauna from CBI.
Resting at FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton St. E., on Friday, November 14, from 3-8 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua Church on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 10 a.m. Entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
In kindness, donations to Juravinski Hospital or McMaster’s Children Hospital foundation would be appreciated by the family.
