BERECZ, Alexander ‘Alex’ Berecz Obituary

BERECZ, Alexander ‘Alex’ – Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at the Woolcott Wing on Friday, October 9, 2015 in his 87th year. 

Beloved husband of the late Teresa (nee Braun, 1986). 

Cherished father of Alex Berecz (Cathy), Terrie Grawey (Tim), Judy Niece (Barry) and Bonnie D’Angelo (Gerry).  Proud and loving grandfather of Deacon (Marisa) and Cameron Berecz, Allan (Tessa), Mark (Jenna) and Christopher Grawey, Adam (Elisha) and Julia Niece, Derek and Sabrina D’Angelo.  Great-grandfather of Molly, Max, Sophia, Mason, Benjamin and Landon.

Sadly missed by his special friend Twila Harpwood and her family.  Dear brother-in-law of Peter Race and Lida Braun.  Lovingly remembered by Linda McGill. Predeceased by his parents Stephen and Pearl Berecz, mother and father-in-law Stephen and Margaret Braun, infant daughter Kathy, sister Susan Race and in-laws Helen and Balasz Orosz, Bert and Louis Braun. 

Alex worked at John Deere for 42 years, retiring in 1989.

He was immensely proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and always looked forward to his Sunday morning visitation with Peter, Jim and Tom. 

The family will receive friends at the H.L. Cudney Funeral Home, 241 West Main Street, Welland, Ontario on Wedneday, October 14th from 3-8 p.m.  A service to celebrate Alex’s life will be held in the Cudney Chapel on Thursday, October 15th at 11 a.m. followed by interment. 

In lieu of flowers, donations in Alex’s memory may be made to the Woolcott Wing Recreation Fund or the Canadian Cancer Society. 

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff from the Woolcott Wing for their exceptional care, kindness and compassion.  He enjoyed entertaining all the staff immensely.
