ALLAN, Elaine Fredericka Allan
August 20, 1936 - November 27, 2025
Our much-loved Elaine died surrounded by loved ones, satisfied with a full life at age 89. She received great compassion and expert palliative care at Lion’s Gate Hospital and hospice.
Elaine was able to live independently until the last month of her life with help in her later years from step-daughter Judy Wallace (John) and her long time dear friend Judith Langner (Ron) whose family became her family in heart. Elaine’s lovely presence, kindness and loving support have been very much appreciated and will be missed by them, her birth family (the Harleys), her late husband Bill Allan’s family (April and Mark) and her Kiwanis West Vancouver neighbours.
Born in Melfort, Saskatchewan, to parents of Scottish and Irish descent, Elaine was raised on the beautiful North Shore of Vancouver with siblings Nola and John where she was lucky enough to remain for most of her life. She is remembered as a loving presence to nieces Allison and Meghan in their youth.
A dedicated employee with a long career in the seafood industry, Elaine was still considered a valuable member of the Shafer-Haggart family even after retirement.
Elaine enjoyed over 30 years of annual J.U.G.s (Just Us Girls) oceanside getaways with Judy (“It’s five o’clock somewhere”), loved her home life sharing beloved pet cats and travelling to Oregon and Vancouver Island with husband Bill, and especially delighted in being an adoptive family member to Judith and Ron and grandmother to their growing family (Anthony, Alisha and Alexander).
Thank you Elaine, for your modeling of quiet thoughtfulness toward others, and the way that you welcomed us all into your heart.
As we go, this we know, God is nigh.
