ALLERSTON, Alan Steven Allerston
October 8, 1960 - January 28, 2026
Passed away peacefully in his home in Strathroy, Ontario on January 28th, 2026. Alan was born in London, Ontario to his mother Alma Allerston (nee Fournier) and his father Alan Allerston Sr, on October 8th, 1960, and was the sixth of eight children. Alan is survived by his sisters Patricia (Dan), Anne, Evelyn (Charles), Deb, and Marg (Michael), and his brother William, as well as his 13 nieces and nephews and more than 25 Great nieces and nephews. Alan is preceded in death by his mother Alma, father Alan and brother Daniel.
After completing highschool at Wheable Secondary School in London, Alan continued his education and achieved a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology at The University of Western Ontario, and further went on to complete his masters in 1994. He believed strongly in human rights and always standing up for what was right, especially for the indigenous peoples in Canada.
Alan was also an avid musician as well, always performing with his acoustic guitar for his friends and family, and was well known at Hutton House (where he worked) for performing for residents and even bringing along his beloved dogs to join in the fun. Making people smile was something Alan loved to do. He admired and respected the natural beauty of the world around him, travelling to both Canadian coasts many times, and spending much of his free time camping in favourite places like Cyprus lake near Tobermory.
He loved nothing more than playing guitar outside under the stars, often around a campfire. Alan had the deepest love and respect for all animals and had many companion k9’s throughout his life. He even spent some time working with orphaned baby black bears at Storybook Gardens in London, and he cherished every moment of his time with them. Alan will be remembered for his humility and his giant heart, always ready to help anyone or any animal in need.
At this time, no service has been requested, however Alan has asked that anyone that would like to make a donation in his name should direct their donation to The London Humane Society, or Happy’s Place (a retirement home for senior dogs) in Strathroy, Ontario. The family wishes to thank the Palliative Care Outreach team at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital for their empathy and compassionate care, especially Dr. Theo and his favourite nurse, Stephanie.
