ALTENHOF , Fredrick Altenhof

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Fredrick Altenhof on August 1, 2025, at the age of 92, surrounded by his loving family at home.

Born in Gosfield Township to Jacob and Margaret Altenhof, Fred lived a full and accomplished life. He was the beloved husband of the late Evelyn Altenhof (née Oltean), and a devoted father to Dena Altenhof, Karen Robson (Keith), and Jamie Altenhof (Tracy). He was a proud and loving grandfather to Shannon, Devon, Jessica, and Tyler, and a cherished great-grandfather to Jack.

Fred is predeceased by his seven siblings and will be deeply missed by his extended family, including brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and many others whose lives he touched.

A skilled civil engineer, Fred built a successful career with integrity and dedication. Though he spent many years away from Windsor, he returned three years ago to be closer to family in his final years. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures—spending time with loved ones, golfing, and cheering on his favorite teams, the Toronto Blue Jays and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Monday, August 25, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Windsor Chapel (Banwell Chapel), 11677 Tecumseh Rd. East, Windsor (519-253-7235). A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am, with a reception luncheon to be held at the funeral home. Cremation has taken place, and interment will be held at Windsor Memorial Gardens at 2:30 pm the same day.
