FINLAY, Anson Allan –
August 4, 1939 – July 14, 2023
Anson Finlay, beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on July 14th, at the age of 83.
Anson is survived by his three children, Catherine (Dale), Graham, and David (Sara); as well as his sister, Liz (Bill); and his companion, Ina.
He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Haley, Stuart, John, Kyle, Hillary, Emma and Annie; and nephew, Patrick.
Anson was predeceased by his wife, Julia; and his parents, Allan and Gladys Finlay.
As an architect at Moriyama and Teshima, Anson contributed to design projects in Canada and abroad. Born in Saskatoon, Anson remained a proud Prairie boy.
He attended the University of Saskatchewan for engineering and was a member of the Saskatoon Hilltops Football Team.
Anson studied architecture at the University of British Columbia before moving to Toronto. He was interested in history, geography, art, sports, and travel. Above all, Anson was a kind man who will be missed by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Anson’s Life will be held July 27th, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Scarboro Golf Club. Memorial donations can be made to the Architectural Conservancy of Ontario, if desired.
