ARMSTRONG, Phyllis Margaret Kells Armstrong
May 31, 2025
With profound sadness we say good-bye to Phyllis Margaret Kells (Armstrong). Peacefully at home, with her husband Ron of 72 years by her side and awaiting a joyous visit with her sister Janice Christie and niece Marnie Armstrong.
Phyllis came from humble beginnings on a farm in Drayton, one of 12 siblings. Later settling in Guelph, she married Ron and together they lived in Toronto, Georgetown, and three beautiful homes in Burlington. She was the proud mother of Brad, Wendy, Richard (Sonya), and Megan (John), and loving grandmother to Tosha, Stacey, Lauren, Graydon, Erin, and Tyler. Her joy multiplied with 11 great-grandchildren.
An exceptionally creative soul, Phyllis’s award-winning gardens and floral designs were featured in print and on television. Her sense of style was timeless—reflected in fashion, interior design, and culinary arts. A true original, she inspired her family long before the “foodie” era or social media influencers.
A voracious reader and sharp-minded crossword solver, Phyllis also had a passionate interest in politics and world affairs. She and Ron traveled extensively, exploring 23 countries together, both before and after retirement.
Phyllis believed her greatest achievement was her family. She will be deeply missed by her two surviving sisters, Betty and Janice, and by her many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. The Armstrong clan grieves together in her memory.
