It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carolyn Atkinson (Hern).  Carolyn was born in London, Ontario and passed away surrounded by her loving family on August 18, 2025 at the age of 80 at Parkwood Hospital in London. Ontario.  She leaves behind her husband Jim, daughters Andrea (Kevin) and Kathryn (Dave) and 4 beautiful grandchildren Nathan, Alyssa, Adam and Evan, whom she adored.  She was pre-deceased by her father Arnold Hern (1987) and Mother Rita Hern (2008).

After high school, Carolyn entered the St. Joseph School of Nursing in London and graduated in 1965.  Over her career she enjoyed working for St. Joseph’s Hospital, Victoria Hospital and London Psychiatric.  In her retirement she enjoyed sewing, cooking and canning and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

Our family would like to extend our appreciation to the University Hospital Dialysis Unit, the Parkwood Palliative Care Team and the Ontario Health at Home care group for their care and compassion.

Family and friends are invited to the Andrew L. Hodges Funeral Home, 47 Wellington St. S. St. Marys on September 5, 2025 for visitation from 12 PM until the time of the Memorial Service at 2 PM. Private family Internment following.

A reception will follow at the Legion in St. Marys, 66 Church St. N. St. Marys.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to either the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Kidney Foundation of Canada would be appreciated.
